Editorial
Happy New Year 2000!
Dear friends:
This January, start of the new millennium for humanity, may we take this
opportunity and wish each one of our readers health, personal happiness and may
this new century also be the start of the reshaping of the world and a movement
towards Socialism.
The upcoming struggles will be immense and the imperialist forces shall try
hard to speed up their goal of world domination, headed by US Imperialism, which
is on the verge of instituting a policy of fascism, as all the latest events in
the world at the end of 1999 have shown.
We have tried over the last 8 years to present to our worldwide readers a
desire to call a world conference in order to elect an International Council for
Friendship and Solidarity with the Soviet People.
The Organizing Committee plus the Editorial and Advisory Board of NSC, after
consulting with all of our Soviet friends, decided that it shall be better to
call this Conference in May of year 2001 in Minsk, Byelorussia. Why the
Postponement? The ongoing problems in the Republics of former Soviet Union.
plus the volatile situation developing on its territory and the uncertainty of
whether there SHALL be a presidential election in Russia in July of year
2000, or also, whether there shall be declared a dictatorship under General
Lebed, or even whether the presidential election shall be allowed to take place
-- all these uncertain factors prompted all of us to hold the International
Conference on May 1-3 in Minsk, capital of Byelorussia!
We are in the process of a financial campaign to raise $40,000 towards this
Conference because, the logistics demand that it shall be conducted in English,
Russian, French and Spanish languages.
There is very great interest in this upcoming Conference, since the danger of
US Imperialism is growing; the unfortunate lack of a unified strategy of all the
Marxist-Leninist and Communist parties within the Soviet Union and also in the
international Communist movement, makes the holding and setting-up an
International Council of Friendship and Solidarity with Soviet People
imperative!
Best Wishes to our Soviet Friends!
Support Is Growing!
