OBITUARY
LYDIA S. KARHU

After a short illness Lydia passed away in her 86th year and all of the progressive movement has lost one of the staunch fighters for Socialism and for the Soviet Union.

As a life-long fighter in the progressive movements and in her own Finnish organization, Lydia was a staunch supporter of the USSR, Stalin and the Communist movement. She was generous in supporting the progressive press and her support is legendary. Her love for Northstar Compass and her generous support was like a bright shining star in our work. Her countless letters and positive urging was an inspiration to all of us.

On behalf of the Editorial Board of Northstar Compass and on behalf of the U.S. Friends of Soviet People of which Lydia Karhu was a member, and on behalf of the International Council for Friendship and Solidarity with Soviet People, we bow our heads to the memory to this great Lady. We shall miss her optimism very much!
