We published above in full a letter received from the Communist Party of Spain (reconstructed) that we find to be singularly explicit and of great value, regarding the forthcoming World Congress we are hosting next year. The forthrightness and in depth character of the letter is to be welcomed.
There are obvious and very meaningful areas of agreement and suggested purposes including the following: "the cause of Socialism in the former USSR is effectively OUR OWN CAUSE." In 1992, our "Council of Canadian Friends of Soviet People" established Northstar Compass journal precisely because not only had we for many generations defended the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics but we as CFSP promoted friendship and interchanges of all sorts with them. More importantly the shattering events of the deliberate destruction of the USSR confronted Canada and the people of the world with unprecedented and vicious control and domination by the Transnational Corporate powers, politically, economically, militarily and also culturally under unlimited expansionism. That very new, qualitatively different situation came under the new, enhanced technology of "instant communication" as "freedom and democracy", trumped up and alleged "The Soviet Socialist" horrors and crimes, in short, the 1990's version of Hitler's "Big Lie". The people of the world have seen and felt the terrifying results of this unipolar world of reaction and exploitation, which is led by the United States of America. Internationally and in a more or less fragmented way the working class and people fought back, often under confused, divided and even apathetic leadership. A centre of concentration of all of international corporate power to remove forever their feared and despised "spectre, haunting all the world" Marxist-Leninist socialism has been within the boundaries of the USSR.
But the TNC unipolar assault on the peoples has not stopped there. Instead it has intensified world-wide wherever working class and people's resistance has developed. From Yugoslavia to Indonesia, to Sudan, to Rwanda, to East Timor, to Seattle, and Washington and European cities to Colombia and Latin and South America... even to the lawns of Vancouver University and Ontario's Parliament in Canada... in fact everywhere state brutality, violence, wars and murderous mayhem rains down on the heads of everyone who resists. We join with our Spanish friends in total condemnation of this deadly state of affairs that flows from the destruction of Soviet Socialism and the Soviet State as was practiced before 1953. We know and agree that such is the result of both internal corruption and destruction from the "Cold War" subversion and massive interference in the internal affairs of the USSR. We also know that a central weapon in that long, vicious process is the device of the "division of labour" and the creation of confusion in the ranks of the working classes and their allies of all countries and nations. We agree that basic to the reversal of the current state of TNC attacks in the class struggle, the works and leadership of the masters, Marx, Engels, Lenin and Stalin must be resurrected, brought to the working class and people to provide a basic platform and program to ensure the defeat of TNC domination, and the ultimate, eventual destruction. In our view that is the central overriding task confronting each and every Communist party in the world. What must be determined and also substantial agreement sought in relation to the forthcoming Congress we are hosting… is whether or not unrestricted debates and airing of all the multi-faceted ideological problems that we all know exist is to become the substance of discussion and exchanges there. We are firmly convinced that to hold forth such a perspective is unrealistic and in fact potentially dangerous to the purposes we hold in common.
Our position in this regard is once again based on the simple fact that this is not a Congress restricted to the varying views of various Communist Parties. We remain convinced that the task of leading the struggles of the Soviet people to the restoration of Soviet socialism cannot come from our Congress and any effort to resolve varying national analyzed and ideological variations... or even sharp differences... that may be present at that Congress, would create a negative result.
In full knowledge of the efforts and temporary successes of the TNC forces to use the "division of labour world wide" as their primary means of defeating or thwarting the efforts of working people to develop friendship and solidarity with our Soviet working class friends and political forces, we are convinced that the forthcoming World Congress can and must play a positive and constructive role. But we are equally convinced that if there are illusions that the Congress can either establish or lay the basis for some kind of a new "Communist International" based on previous experiences we would be wrong and misleading and we would be seen as pre-empting the role of Communist Parties whose main political task it is to mobilize the working class both nationally and to develop international support and also assistance to our Soviet friends. We believe that it is possible in so doing that they will strengthen their historic roles in providing leadership and strategic and tactical direction in the struggle than can be won only by the working class and its allies.
The role of this Congress that we will host on September 21-22-23, 2001 in Canada is therefore more modest... but we also believe that it is of paramount importance… the task of the development of international solidarity and friendship in every way we find possible and within our modest means. The World Congress, we maintain, must aim at precisely such goals and ends. In no way does such reject, contradict or revise the essential elements of the science of Marxism-Leninism. In fact, we are convinced it can only strengthen and enhance the Marxist-Leninist theory and practice in the deadly struggle to end the vicious divisions of labour and people that underpin all the TNC activities.
The massive mobilization of the working class and people nationally and internationally to effect the reversal of the blood-soaked actions of the TNCs in their unipolar programs of exploitation and death-dealing requires new and profound clarity, strategic and tactical designs and purposes… all designed to fulfill the requirements of what is in fact a new, very distinct phase of a "globalized" class struggle. The forging of new bonds of international friendship and solidarity among and between the working classes and peoples of all the national states is an essential building block in that process. In fact the working class is now confronted with the defense and sustaining of what may still remain of value within the various nation states of the world, now endangered by the TNC corporate powers. Mutual solidarity and support, mutual respect and friendship to safeguard the peoples from these super exploiting and world war makers is the new agenda erected before the international working class 'by the emergence of the Transnational Corporate "Globalization". Our World Congress will lend every assistance to that process. The long term strategic aims of our class and people remains, crystal clear, immensely difficult of realization and to bring to real life:
WORKERS OF ALL COUNTRIES UNITE:
YOU HAVE A WORLD TO WIN:
YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE BUT YOUR TNC CHAINS!!!
