New Generation of Revolutionaries

From newspaper "Red Youth"
North Ossetia, Russia

The more the capitalists step on the backs of working people, the more revolutionary feelings get hold of the masses. In the last few years there were great changes in the anti-capitalist and anti-imperialist movement taking place in Russia: replacing the elder comrades in the front ranks are young Komsomols and Communist revolutionaries. What this means is that the revolutionary movement is gathering strength and effectiveness. If before, the understanding of the word "Communist" meant only the elder and the pensioners, who are tired of just sitting and therefore "organize protests to pass the time", but now these movements are more and more joined by and headed by young people. Our youth now is starting to take the lead in the struggles and shows a higher stage of understanding and preparedness and it will radically change the life of our people in the struggle for socialism.

The Komsomols of Ossetia –this is an organization of young fighters for socialism. Born a few years ago, now it represents a reality of work and effectiveness. Even today, we have done tremendous amount of agitation, marches, protests, pickets, constant leafleting and demonstrations. Our ranks are being foiled with more and more young people. Our work is getting more and more effective in influencing people.

Our main task is our ideological work amongst the youth. A Komsomol member from many other young person in that he or she can explain and rationalize the needs at any given moment and make a plan for its implementation in order to defeat the bourgeoisie propaganda. In order to become a dedicated Communist we must study Marxist theory, look at the events, and be able to explain to the people the correct path of action.

Another important task of the Komsomol is to be ready to work amongst the military, knowing full well that changes to our life will not come through the ballot box. We must be physically and militarily trained for future struggles. In this regard, we take part in our military-sports camp "Baltz" where we train for our struggles against capitalism.

We are now working on a full time "Agitational Brigade" and patriotic artistic ensembles as was done after the 1917 revolution, to go into the cities, towns and villages to agitate.

We are children in the main of workers and farmers. We worked in industry or farms so we know what exploitation means. Most of our members are going to schools, technical is now is not on the front burner, time is coming when this part of the education of the Komsomol will be of outmost importance.

You cannot take away the optimism from the youth. The more time they spend in the Komsomol, the more their dedication and fervor goes on an upswing and belief in the reconstituting of the USSR and of socialism. Socialism is needed more for the youth then ever before. We must make certain that our lives and energies are wholly dedicated to it.

The youth will and must fight for Socialism – the future belongs to the young people!

Returning Back To Stalin

In the city center of Beslane there took place a remarkable event. With the demands of its citizens and the support from the city administration, a monument to Stalin was erected. It is right in front of the Stalin Street that was named for this memorable event. The patriots who took part in this manifestation were very proud, and rightly so.

More than 40 years have past since the Khrushchevites and their vandals demolished the monument to Stalin and started a vicious campaign of vilification of his name and history. The elder people of the city remember how a group of young Komsomols and other youth at that time made a cordon around that monument but were severely beaten and jailed for their action and then jailed by Khrushchevites stooges for long years in prison.

But the revisionist government at that time in Ossetia was sadly mistaken and the people did not allow that the street should be officially designated as something else except Stain. The authorities tried with different names and signs, but always the Stalin signs appeared on the street as if by magic. The collective farmers were the defenders, while the workers were temporarily fooled by the anti-Stalin propaganda.

All of these counterrevolutionary actions are coming to an end and people are beginning to realize as to what they had and what they have now. Along the roads, the coal miners and others put up pictures of Stalin, torch lights in honor of Stalin, and many other actions.

Today, people of the whole world are trying desperately to come out of the dangers that hang over mankind and to build Socialism. Stalin is becoming more and more a symbol and a shining star to the future. It is absolutely certain that monuments to Stalin will be again being built all over the former USSR and in other countries as well. In the meantime, smaller Stalin busts and monuments will be erected as was done now here in Beslane, Northern Ossetia, Russia.

Putin, Join NATO, But Without Russia!

Tamara
Khabarova

In an excellent analytical article by Tatiana Khabarova, we reprint a few paragraphs that go the heart of what the Soviet people should do now.

* We are all Soviet citizens. There is no such a things as the Russian Federation – there is temporarily occupied territory of the USSR.

* There is no "president" – there is an officer of the former state security who threw out his oath of allegiance to obey and safeguard the Motherland, who defected to the side of the enemy and helped the enemy to dismantle the Soviet Union, to devastate his own land, the land that he swore and oath to defend.

* There is no such thing as land codex which allows the buying and selling of land – there is only the temporary liquidation of the USSR Constitution, which gave the Soviet people the right to live without being in bondage.

* There is no such a thing as private enterprises - it is only a temporary usurping of Soviet power which shall be returned back to the people.

We must open our eyes and look around at the present temporary situation under which are occupied – this means to realize and know that you arte a Soviet citizen and a patriot.

The real strength of the present occupiers is in the fact that, we do accept them not as who they are, but we accept them as they promote themselves to us to accept them.

All these problems can be overcome in unity of actions and of admitting to ourselves that we are Soviet people, but temporarily occupied and robbed in our own hard-won and defended Motherland.

Until we realize and work as a united Soviet people, the present occupiers will have us believe that what they’re doing is for our benefit.

We are always being heaped mud upon that nobody is listening to us. But there are people, young people are listening and taking to heart that they are living under temporary occupation of the enemy. The storm is brewing and will come!

And because of this, we are ready to fulfill our patriotic task of resurrecting the Soviet Union. We shall do this as Soviet patriots, so that future generations will look at our struggles and thank us for saving the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics for them and their children and grandchildren.

6,000 Foreign Troops Now Stationed in Kyrgystan

According to a spokesman from Tashkent, Uzbekistan, some 6,000 international troops will now be stationed in this former Soviet republic of Kyrghizia plus 50 warplanes for operations in nearby Afghanistan, said a Kyrgyz official.

Alisher Abdimomunov, head of the Kyrgyz Republic committee on international affairs, confirmed the figure of troops and warplanes.

A total of 11 countries asked to station their troops and planes in this former Soviet republic; this includes troops from Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, South Korea, Spain, Turkey, England and the United States, said Abdimomunov.

They allowed France to deploy troops and warplanes even before the Parliament made any decision or even discussed the request. The deal was signed late December but the Parliament was just notified lately and, meanwhile France has already put in 6 Mirage 2000 jets and two refueller planes plus troops.

The U.S. has already reached agreement and has their troops and airplanes in position, including at Manas, about 35 kilometers from the capital city of Bishkek.

Georgia to Install NATO Surveillance Against Russia

The Georgian government stated that it would like to install NATO radars on its territory to stem the "unauthorized" Russian military surveillance of ex-Soviet republic's air space. Vice Defense Minister Guela Bejouachvili told foreign journalists that Russian aircraft have violated Georgia’s air space numerous times.

He failed to specify if Tbilisi had yet requested the radars from NATO, with whom the country is to carry out joint military exercises this coming year.

Last November (2001) President Shevernadze had accused Russia of bombing the Pankisi gorge, which lies on the country’s border with Chechnya and is home to some 7,000 refugees from the war-torn republic.

Russian president Vladimir Putin denied this claim and then accused Georgia of being unable or unwilling to rein in separatist rebels, using this gorge as a base.

Relations between Russia and Georgia have soured since Georgia is a shoo-in candidate to join NATO shortly, something that Bejouachvili said is currently very "problematic" because the Georgia’s present economic crisis.

NATO Out Of Latvia!

By Rafael Martinez

The ruling bourgeois-comprador elite of Latvia, even before entering NATO, is doing its best to serve the interests of its imperialist lords. With this purpose, the government has approved the construction of a radar station on Latvian territory. This will serve as part of air defense system of the aggressive imperialist block. The construction of the radar station is planned to take place in the populated area in the Rezeknenski region. This would jeopardize the life and health of all the local population. Additionally, Latvia is planning to enter NATO despite the will of the majority of the people of that country.

According to sociological poll conducted by the independent organization, "Prata spcks", 70% of the population opposed Latvia entering NATO, 20% refused to express their opinion and only 10% supported it. The serious question of allowing the construction of such a station on Latvia’s soil in these conditions is an act of national treason by the present government.

Moreover, the radar station is now planned to be built near the village of Audrini, where exactly 60 years ago Nazi Germans, in full cooperation with the fascist Latvian collaborators, committed one of the most dreadful crimes against humanity on Latvian soil. The fascist hordes completely destroyed the village of Audrini and shot almost its entire population in the Anchupanski forest for giving shelter to four Soviet Army prisoners who had managed to escape. Now, today’s betrayers of Latvia have given the green light to the imperialists to construct a tool of aggression above the bones of the Latvian patriots, who gave their lives for the freedom and independence during the Great Patriotic War. This is an insult to the memory of those heroes and victims of the Great Patriotic War and the history of our people.

Over 19,000 signatures have been collected in the Rezeknenski region alone. Signatures are being collected also all across Latvia. Many Latvian social and political organizations have joined this campaign and are supporting the demand of the people of Latvia.

We call on all social, political and Marxist organizations, individuals and publications abroad to send messages of protest against the reactionary decision of the Latvian government. Send the protests to:
