The International Council condemns very strongly the attack of Israel on Palestinian people, using all brutal weapons of war. Trampling all international protocols, Israel has laid siege to the headquarters of President Yasser Arafat, confining him to one room, after killing his bodyguards and holding him hostage against all international norms and the decision of the United Nations Organization, demanding that Israel withdraw from Ramallah. Israeli plans are to expel Yasser Arafat from Palestine and set up a lackey leadership that would follow the dictates of Israel and its master, U.S. imperialism.

U.S. imperialism, far from being uninvolved, is responsible for the actions of Israel, and in fact, is supporting Israel with arms and finances, using these Israeli war hawks as the Shock Troops, in its aim of conquest in the Near and Far East, and above all, as a base for the upcoming attack against Iraq.

We urge the members of the International Council and the readers of Northstar Compass to do all in your power to organize protests and demand of your government to protest to the Israeli government to stop this bloodshed and withdraw from the occupied territories as demanded by the United Nations.
