American Imperialism Strengthening Its Influence in Central Asia

V.N.
Chechensev

The so-called anti-terrorism fight by America and NATO is not going as well as U.S. deemed at first, with TV screens showing heavy fighting, rockets, bombs, missiles, not able to make a very quick victory in Afghanistan. But the aim in the first place was to really occupy and hold as a base Afghanistan… and this is now accomplished with America’s puppets in place in Kabul.

The aim of changing the political structures in Central Asia is being slowly accomplished. Russia is being surrounded by bases of US imperialism and NATO, with the smell of oil and gas very near the nose of U.S. imperialism. The U.S. has taken under its control all of the main airports in former USSR Asian republics. Uzbekistan, Kirghizstan, Georgia and the former Central Asian republics are now under control of US imperialism and their NATO allies.

The representatives of the Pentagon and the U.S. State Department themselves state that this will be a long occupation and a long struggle wherever Uncle Sam feels that there is a threat.

Even the New York Times on January 10th wrote: "that even though these former Soviet republics gave permission for a 'short stay' to U.S. and NATO troops and bases, Colonel Bill Montgomery of the Pentagon said that these bases are very long term." The long-term plans are clearly outlined by George W. Bush when he termed the "axis of evil" Iran, Iraq, North Korea… now it also includes Russia.

Russian minister of defense Sergei Ivanov in effect stated that "We do not have to worry about the U. S./NATO bases on former Soviet soil, since this is only a temporary arrangement!"

Even the conservative privately-owned newspaper in Moscow, "Komersant' wrote that Sergei lvanov beat a hasty retreat from a pre-arranged Press Conference in Tadzhikistan, because: "he had nothing to say about the situation in Central Asia or on any proposed defense actions against U.S.A. expansionism there."

The present central Asian republic regimes are ready to sell anything and everything for US dollars.

According to the pro-government daily newspapers in Uzbekistan, at the meeting in Washington between the leader of Uzbekistan and the US government, a deal was signed with more than $150 millions that U.S. gave to Uzbekistan now as a start to help in their economic reforms for proceeding with the total market economy.

President George W. Bush wants Uzbekistan to stop all the trade between itself and base itself on U.S. trade only. Even Kyrghistan, which previously voiced its position of neutrality, now has welcomed U.S. troops, and as Mr. Kurmanbek Bakaev, Premier of Kyrghistan said: "The stationing of 1,000 U. S troops here is a golden opportunity for our country!"

The broadening of American influence and economic domination and exploitation of all the natural raw resources in all of the former Central Asian republics of the USSR, shows that globalization is a great danger to the whole world. This process of utilizing the air space, airports and natural resources of Central Asian countries, can only be stopped if the mobilization of all the people takes place here, plus the support of the international working class.

As NSC predicted… here are the results of supporting Putin of Russia!

Duma Revolution Sweeps Away Communists’ Strongholds

Last month, the Russian State Duma voted to overturn the so-called "package agreement" negotiated two years ago, distributing chairmanships of the lower chamber’s committees and commissions.

As expected, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (Zyuganov) lost control of the seven of the nine committees.

The vote was 251 in favor, 136 against. The CPRF chairman of the exempted committees, Viktor Zorkaltsev of the Public and Religious Organizations Committee and Nikolai Gubenko of the Cultural and Tourism Committee, announced their resignations. The CPRF traditional ally (the "Agro-Industrial Group) gave up control of the Nationalities Committee, while group leader Nikolai Kharitonov refused to oversee the Women and Youth Affairs Committee, as well as the Duma Mandate Commission.

Zyuganov (leader of the CPRF) said that from now on the CPRF will not boycott the Duma sessions, but will act as the loyal opposition!

Of course the CPRF will attend the Duma session and act as the loyal opposition. That is nothing new; the CPRF was always the Loyal Opposition, giving the Putin government a picture of "respectability and democracy". Is this not a wake-up call to the honest and dedicated Communists inside the CPRF to draw proper conclusions as to who is who in the CPRF Duma faction and its leadership?

Who Is Putin?

Writing about Boris Yeltsin or Mikhail Gorbachev is easy, although it is very scary, because all of these events transpired before our own eyes. But it is scary to realize how many enemies were hidden inside the CPSU and also inside the KGB of the USSR!

One of these hidden traitors was Vladimir Putin. He was born in 1952 in Leningrad. In 1975 he finished his Law Faculty and he was assigned by the CPSU to work in the KGB of the USSR. Until 1985 he served in the counter-intelligence department. Here he managed to join the CPSU. In 1985, as a Major, he changed his name from "Platov" to Putin, and worked in the German Democratic Republic until 1989 and he was discharged with the rank of Major into the reservist ranks. In 1990, the 38-year old Vladimir Putin was chosen by Mayor Sobchak of Leningrad as his assistant… the same mayor who pushed through changing the name of Leningrad to St. Petersburg and who allowed the demolishing of Lenin monuments in the city.

Before that, in 1996, Yeltsin brings Putin into the Kremlin as his deputy. Putin’s career was rising higher and higher in a master plan by these internal traitors within the CPSU… until on August 16th, 1999, Boris Yeltsin appoints him as Prime Minister of Russia

On August 7, 1999 the Chechen and Dagestan fighters start the bombing of homes in Moscow [although this is now being disputed, that Putin and his cohorts planted these bombs and thus the war in Chechnya began], with Putin stating that we "shall kill everyone there…"! I thought to myself then, who is it that is ruling Russia?

According to the master plan a la CIA and the internal traitors, Boris Yeltsin on December 31, 1999 resigns as President of Russia and appoints Vladimir Putin as his successor… something akin to a royal succession.

On March 27, 2001 the Soviet people found out that they have a new president, and his name. The first act of Mr. Putin was to have a direct meeting in a summer home outside of Moscow with Yeltsin, in which Putin and his cohorts, with direct push by the CIA, guaranteed Boris Yeltsin immunity from any prosecution for his crimes and robbery. This act alone guaranteed that Boris Yeltsin and his fortune amassed in foreign banks, will not be able to be prosecuted.

Putin’s many actions, after becoming president of Russia, read like some horrible horror stories. Examples:

* When the Kursk submarine sank with 118 sailors dead, Putin was not available for comment until after many days passed and then news leaked out that the Russian Navy sold all of its rescue ships for American dollars and thus had to depend on foreign countries to get the bodies out. Putin knew and approved the fact that Yeltsin sold off all rescue vessels for cash.

* On September 20, 2000, Putin visits Solzhenitsyn, the biggest enemy of socialism and USSR, but Putin becomes buddies with this vicious enemy.

* Visiting Finland, Putin lays flowers and has very kind words for Mannerheim, the fascist General who was together with Hitler during the Second World War. This Czarist general was given accolades by Putin that "he saved Leningrad from the Germans during the Great Patriotic War!" General Mannerheim was also involved in trying to drown the1917 Revolution in blood.

* Visiting Poland, Putin laid a wreath to the victims in the Katyn Forest Massacre, saying that the Red Army did this mass murder. Even the United Nations Tribunal proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that all of these Polish officers were massacred by the Germans.

* When Putin took office, he attacked NATO and its march to the East, but now he wants Russia to join NATO, the WTO, European Union etc. etc.

* Now that NATO has troops in every former Soviet republic in the Near and Far East, Putin told the Russian nation that "we have nothing to worry about!"

American imperialism realized that Gorbachev did its bidding well, Boris Yeltsin drowned in blood the uprising of the Soviet people, but, due to his drunken behavior he was now detrimental to the CIA and the U.S. Pentagon… and thus… along comes pre-ordained Mr. Putin, who was put into position to make him more people-presentable and the U.S. media went into Pentagon-inspired raptures in promoting Putin as a very young, very energetic, sportsman, caring and of course, he was a member of the KGB, thus making him more acceptable to the Russian people. After all, wasn't the KGB responsible for defending the CPSU and the USSR? Yes, Putin is nothing more than a doll which is wound-up, primed and cuddled with U.S. money and great praise by U.S. imperialism… and he does their bidding. Vladimir Putin in actual fact is a terrorist.

Russia and other former Soviet republics can be saved only by another Soviet people's socialist revolution… that is what dedicated Bolsheviks say.

Demonstration in Moscow on 3rd Anniversary of Aggression Against Yugoslavia

On March 24, 2002 a very large demonstration was held in Moscow in front of the U.S. Embassy where many resolutions were passed unanimously. The resolutions called for the immediate evacuation of U.S. troops and their allies from the territory of Yugoslavia. Also, the demand was made for the release of President Slobodan Milosevic from prison.

The meeting demanded that U.S. imperialism stop its planned aggression against Iraq, get out from all the bases in former republics of the Soviet Union and for freedom of all political prisoners on the territory of former Soviet Union.

The Resolution against U.S. imperialism and NATO received a tremendous cheer when it demanded that Bush, Clinton, Blair, Albright, all be tried as war criminals.

* Freedom for Milosevic!
* Down with The Hague Kangaroo Court!
* US-NATO to be tried by a Peoples Court!

These were some of the slogans carried by the demonstrators!

Communists Of Ukraine Lost Their Clout in Last Election

By VITALY SICH
Kiev Post writer

A large center-right bloc of President Kuchma emerged as the major players again in the March 31st elections in the Ukraine.

The pro-presidential "For a United Ukraine" bloc, won a total of 119 Rada seats while the center-right bloc received 112 seats, and the Communist Party of Ukraine and their allies, the largest force in Ukraine’s parliament since independence, had at that time 113 representatives, but now lost so many that they have only 66 members in the Rada. If we add the 119 and 112 seats of the government and right-wing parties, you have 231 Deputies in the Ukrainian Rada… all supporting the policies of President Kuchma.

In the Rada there are 450 seats, but half of them are selected by proportional representation. The communists performed poorly in their single-mandate race, receiving only 7 seats.

The Yulia Timoshenko bloc won 7.9 % while the Socialist Party won 6.9 % of the vote. The Social Democratic Party received 6.2% of the votes. Women for the Future and the Green Party received 2.1% ands 1.3% respectively.

The Communists running received 35% of the vote in Eastern Ukraine while receiving only 4% of the vote in Western Ukraine.

According to the international observers, there were irregularities in voting and many abuses.

Of course there was even an assassination of a candidate, Mykola Shkriblyak, vice-governor in Western Ukraine who was gunned down… with no arrests yet. He was from the Social Democratic Party slate. Western Ukraine is the hotbed of Ukrainian nationalists and the birthplace of Ukrainian fascists who were fighting together with Hitler’s Germany.

We are waiting for Professor Herasymchuk to write an analysis in the next issue of NSC.

Russia Uncovers CIA Spy Ring

Reuters agency in Moscow reported that Russia accused the USA of trying to steal military secrets, just weeks before President Putin and George Bush are due to meet in Moscow.

The Interfax Agency quoted the FSB, the domestic security service, as stating that they uncovered a U.S. spy ring. The CIA tried to recruit experts from the secret Defense Ministry plant, but the FSB intervened. The FSB has irrefutable proof that some of the U.S. Embassy staff are involved. After this charge was made, the U.S. diplomat involved was recalled to the U.S.

The Russian FSB charges add to a growing list of woes likely to crop up at the May 23-26 meeting between Putin and Bush in Leningrad (St. Petersburg). There is bickering over U.S. poultry imports, the U.S. funded radio broadcasts to Chechnya promoting separatism.

In March of last year, 50 Russian diplomats were expelled from the United States.

It seems that the cold war is heating up, with U.S. spies active not only in former USSR, but in Cuba and other spots of the world.

NATO Sucks In Tajikistan

By Rick Rozoff

The BBC story refers to Tajikistan as the "last former Soviet Republic to join" NATO’s Orwellian-named Partnership for Peace military bloc. Presumably the BBC meant that it is the fourteenth former Soviet Republic to do so, as Russia itself is not a member.

A revealing oversight, and also one that indicates the true purpose of the Partnership For Peace: which is to entangle all the non-Russian former republics in a US-NATO dominated military command structure, and one which will dictate not only the foreign policies, but also internal political and economic affairs in all of the affected countries.

Though not mentioned in this report of BBC, the first effect of Tajikistan joining the (PfP) will be that it has to participate in the US and NATO war in Afghanistan and beyond. With now 19 current full members of NATO and 30 PfP candidate members, there are now almost 50 national units in the constantly expanding bloc, but most nowhere near the Atlantic Ocean, whose name NATO has at the beginning appropriated to disguise the real purpose and mission of NATO.

To understand how Russia and other countries must feel about this open-ended aggrandizement in a world, where there isn’t even a pretense of any medium or large rival military alliance, imagine that in the 1980’s every member of NATO in North America and Western Europe, except the United States, had joined the Warsaw Pact, participated in a Russian war against Guatemala and built military bases in every nation in the Western Hemisphere… except the United States!

Kazakhstan

Officials from eleven former Soviet republics met in Alma Ata to discuss their future. Shevernadze of Georgia astonished this Conference by announcing that Americans are being allowed to place their military and control methods into the territory of Georgia. Georgia and Russia’s Putin welcomed this event.

US specialists will train the Georgians in the art of warfare against terrorists. A partisan from the Tskinvali region asked: "Why couldn't the instructors from the former Red Army do that?" We, veterans of the Canadian Army during World War II will give an answer: The US Military-Industrial Complex "really" wants to "protect" Georgia, which in fact means that Shevernadze will do what Uncle Sam tells him to do! Clearly, a very simple deduction.

Of course, under the cover of "friendship and partnership" US wants to get their fingers on all the rich oil resources near the Caspian Sea and establish a buffer zone to keep Russia out of the Caucasus, of course with the consent of Putin.

Backed by NATO, this is one of the greatest military takeovers in history. These gains, our dear former Soviet Partisan, are what you fought and spilled your blood for as a member of the Red Army, which is now thrown aside like a pair of well-worn boots.

The talk about the Pankisi Gorge in Georgia that Uncle Sam says he will help form and train President Shevernadze’s soldiers to defend… you went through it and you defended it against fascists. Now the IMF-NATO is stealing it right from under your feet.

But, we know, what eventually happens to all traitors that are in power now. Justice will be done and it will be swift!

Oh yes… I almost forgot. At that Conference Putin said these words of wisdom as was quoted by the Associated Press:

"US troops in Georgia is no tragedy at all. If US can put troops into Central Asia, why not into Georgia!"
