Czech Slav Committee Against NATO Session in Prague

Statement

The Czech Slav Committee is absolutely against the holding of the NATO summit meeting in Prague in November of 2002, looking at the colossal damage, devastation and tragedy that befell the Czech Republic during the unprecedented floods. It is immoral to hold such a meeting and having the Czech citizens pay for the holding of such a meeting, on top of other costs of the devastation of this aggressive pact which broke all international laws.

We also demand that the Czech army serving outside the Czech Republic in the service of NATO be recalled, since they do not serve the interests of our country or of our people, but serving a foreign power.

We await that the Czech government will make the decision that the costs be paid by the present millionaires and that this would not affect the living standard of people who subsist on minimum existence.

We appreciate all the international help our country gets during this catastrophe. This help should not be given if it is tied to obligations to other organizations or which might compromise the sovereignty of our state ands its suffering people.
