NATO On The Doorstep Of Russia

By Felix Gorelik

The November NATO Summit in Prague, decided to accept to its military union, some former socialist members of the Warsaw Pact and economic unified union, together with them, three former Soviet republics –Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. Georgia is also about to be allowed to join NATO and the next one is already being primed for entry is Ukraine. Besides, NATO has already military bases on the territory of former USSR: in Kirghyzia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Georgia. As we see, NATO has already broken through the borders of the Soviet Union, and they have in fact started their hidden occupation of the ex-USSR.

All this is being accomplished under the innocent slogan of the "fight against international terrorism"! What about Putin’s attitude, who before all of this, proclaimed himself as the "dedicated state ruler"?

If before, he spoke against the expansion of NATO to the East, today, there is not a word from him of protest! Right after this dangerous NATO Summit, Putin welcomes with open arms President Bush, hugs and kisses at the Kremlin’s Golden Palace! Bush on the other hand said that Putin "is his best and dear friend"! And the Russian TV tells the Russian people that nothing terrible has happened, that the march eastward of NATO is in the interests of Russia, as it strengthens the "war against international terrorism". In fact this episode was the highest form of treason by Vladimir Putin!

The Russian TV tries to tell us that NATO is changing its policies and character, and is no longer an enemy of Russia, that NATO has other enemies and another program! Who do they think we are? Did not too long ago NATO warplanes were bombing Serbia? Did NATO not too long ago started a war in Yugoslavia, and organized its dismemberment?

Under the slogan of "fight against international terrorism" the USA is strengthening its rule over the whole world and is becoming the "World Policeman"! This is just a continuation of the previous US imperialist acts when they obliterated cities and towns in North Korea, Vietnam and also the over 40 year blockade of Cuba, bombing and dividing the land of Iraq, feeding bin Laden, now their supposed enemy in Afghanistan, and then supporting the Chechen terrorists. Before the plan of NATO was to liquidate and dismember the USSR, and today – Russia is the main object of NATO’s plans. They will have more and more military bases nearer to Moscow.

Mr. Putin proceeds from one capitulation to another, pushing away those that want to be or might be friends with Russia, as is the case with President Lukashenko of Byelorussia. All this is just to buy "friendship" with US and NATO, opening the market place to the oligarchs and the international multinational corporations – and maybe, to get support from NATO in case the Russian people should start to wake up and demand answers for these traitorous acts by Putin and his present clique!

It is very interesting that acceptance into NATO of some former Soviet republics was exactly on the date of the Red Army launched an attack to liberate Stalingrad, the result of which was the beginning of the end of German fascism. At that time, the Soviet people based themselves on socialist economy that gave the Red Army the tools to defeat Hitler and liberate practically the whole of Europe.

Nonetheless the USSR, liberator of mankind from Hitler’s darkness, the main victor in the Second World War, found itself defeated and broken up in the Third World War, which started in 1945 with the dropping of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This war took then took on a new form, the "Cold War." This post WW II Cold War, was started by leaders of the West, Truman and Churchill. They put in front of them the slogan of "Christian March against the evil Communism".

This Cold War was meant to start the arms race build-up, forcing the USSR to keep up in its defense potential, thus depriving the Soviet people of a much higher standard of living that they could have achieved if the enormous resources were not spent on the arms build-up. But, the Cold War also took on a varied psychological form, with radio stations like the "Voice of America", "Voice of Freedom" to disorientate the Soviet people and other socialist countries with all sorts of promises.

There were organized many provocations against the USSR. This anti-Soviet policy was then spelled out very clearly by the President of USA himself, when he stated "our policy is from the position of strength"! To this end USA spent billions of dollars. In spite of these outlays of countless billions of dollars, US imperialism was not able to defeat the Soviet people, until they bought off traitors in the leadership of the USSR and of the CPSU – the infamous Mikhail Gorbachev. This capitulation was carried onward by Yeltsin and his appointee Putin. As you see, Putin has learned how to sell his Motherland better, by using the slogan "strengthening peace" and "personal friendship". Then a new slogan was born "together in the fight against terrorism."

Gorbachev, Yeltsin, Putin had made extremely weak and ineffective the Russian Army. The Pilots cannot practice flying since there is no oil or gas. The Russian Navy also has the same problem, hardly ever going out to sea, and if they do, the accidents are very many. The officers and their families are living practically in near hunger, and they do not receive their pay for many months on end.

Over 500 Russian military officers committed suicide because of these events, unable to face their families. For years, the army does not receive the latest implements or technical innovations. The defense ministries of Russia are working steady for many foreign transnational corporations, manufacturing the latest in technology for planes, rockets, ships etc., but not for Russia’s defense. All of this is because Putin had given over factories and all the gas and oil into the hands of the oligarchs. If the former USSR was able to keep up with its defense potential against NATO warmongers, Russia today looks like stump of wheat with legs of clay. This is one of the reasons of the ass-licking by Putin of Bush.

But Putin has his own individual traits. He is much more devious and smarter than his predecessors! Open traitorous acts he is able to mask them under the "Red Colours"! He returned back the musical melody of the Soviet Hymn, but with new and contradictory words. He allowed the Russian Army to wear their Red Colours. And now, in order to mask and put on good make-up, he also allowed the Russian army that they can have their Red Star. Obviously he does not truly believe that the priests, icons or the two-headed eagle insignia can arouse the army to great courage, when they could not even defeat the Chechen rebels, which war now is going longer than the Great Patriotic War!

This, which is happening in front of our eyes, is the greatest national tragedy, the victory of renegades, reaction, darkness under the mask of "victory of democracy." But, history shall not stop here. The lesson of history is that aggressors always get their just desserts! And traitors will forever be written into the Black Book.

Give Us Your Hand, Giovanni!

Prof. Vladimir
Herasymchuk

Not looking at the intrigues of the enemies of socialism, the Great October Socialist Revolution continues to shine across our planet. In spite of the terror, instigated across the world by American imperialism, the people of the world are struggling for democracy and socialism. There is a lesson here, as is symbolized by the revolutionary upheavals in Latin America. It is not too long ago that the world celebrated the 90th year of the birth of the well known communist and Brazilian, who became the Laureate of the International Lenin Prize, Zhorgi Amadu (1912-2001) for his brilliant work "For the Solidarity and peace between peoples". Near the Anniversary of the 85th Anniversary of the Great October Revolution, the people of Brazil achieved a great victory in electing their new president, Lula, a trade union leader. We wish him more success in the struggle for a free Brazil from the grip of the Transnational Corporate powers. By receiving 64.44% of the votes, we hope that the people of Brazil will withstand the upcoming onslaught upon them by US imperialism.

But of course, to the final victory is still a long way to go, and during these days, all Soviet people send their best wishes to the people of Brazil. This is a victory, but in front of the people and the new president are much harder questions that must be resolved.

I myself want to wish my personal friend, Professor Dzhovani Vieru from Rio de Janeiro the best. I feel that he also deserves some credit for the victory in the elections. Let the sunshine of the Great October shine on the road for the Brazilian people to the future for mankind – socialism!

Struggling and pushing for the future are also the Soviet people. We brilliantly celebrated the 85th Anniversary of the Great October Revolution. In many cities and towns of Ukraine there were held huge meetings, protests and celebrations, Representatives of all left parties, movements, workers and farmers, intelligencia told of their loyalty to the cause of revolution and condemned the traitorous policies of president Kuchma.

In Lutsk there were marches in the center of the city. During Soviet times, these celebrations were held near the monument to V.I. Lenin. This Lenin monument was erected in honour of the 50th Anniversary of the Great October Revolution. The newspaper "The Young Guard" wrote at that time: "The 6th of October 1967…is very close to the hearts of everyone, since this monument has beautified this tree-lined, forever young Lutsk. This date will be written in golden letters in the annals of our great Motherland!"

You see the two photographs that were taken from the newspaper "Avers-press" 22/08/2002. The readers can see the Pioneer Honour Guard under the monument to Lenin. But now, there is no more the newspaper called "The Young Guard" there is the capitalist newspaper "Peoples Tribune" There is not a monument to V.I. Lenin now. The authorities in 1991 gave the order to demolish the monument and this newspaper had the audacity to write the following on that infamous date: " This day will always be in the memory and hearts of the people of Lutsk, and it will be written in all the books of Ukraine". Is this not blasphemous? Yes, traitorous acts are terrible things. Judas has left many of his followers on this earth unfortunately.

But the USSR is not just the past. This is also the future. Socialist revolution is unbeatable! "No matter how hard the tasks ahead and how the new system had birth pangs-" said Lenin, "no matter if we have even losses, set backs in some of the Soviet Republics, no force on earth will be able to hold back the coming of socialism." This is now shown by the numerous meetings, many protests, marches and also workers’ pickets. Of course, today the present Ukrainian government does not recognize as a national holiday the October Revolution. But this will never stop the people from coming unto the streets. The Great October Revolution holiday is living all over the world.

No force on earth can stop forever progress of mankind. Yes, of course, sometimes you can dam a river or a stream and stop it momentarily. But the accumulation of flowing water will break the dams, the stoppages and keep on flowing onwards in an unending stream of power until it is free. Any pigmies who try to stop this onrush of energy will find themselves in the dirt of mud and dirt, awash in the garbage outcast of mankind….

Give us your hand across the ocean, my dear friend Giovanni! And we, together with all of our friends and comrades will march on forward towards the shining path, towards democracy, equality and to the brotherhood, to the Communist tomorrow!

Demonstrations are regularly held and more and more young people are taking part in them.

Facts You Really Should Know!

The Greek author Lambros Malamas of "Chronicle of the fall of Socialism" is now 76 years old, but he is the most prolific writer in Greece, having written 94 books and he is a dedicated Leninist-Stalinist. He is also the Editor of the Greek quarterly magazine titled "Greek Spirit". On page 183, Malamas cites a passage from the book by Kozlov, former secretary of the CC CPSU.

"Nikita Khrushchev committed the following treasonous acts against the CPSU from March 5, 1953 (when Stalin died) to September 1953:

* He expelled from the CPSU 98% of its dedicated Bolshevik cadres

* He expelled from the State Security KGB/MVD 96.5% of its cadres

* He expelled from the Soviet Red Army 93% of its top officer cadres (including Air Force and Navy)

* He expelled from the Soviet trade unions 51% of its top leadership

* He expelled from all of the Soviet state, administration, ministries, councils etc, 74% of its cadres

All of those that Khrushchev and his gang expelled, were replaced by the hand-picked and dedicated to Khrushchev because of their liberation – 1,484,758 traitors to the USSR, who were serving sentences for traitorous acts during the Great Patriotic War and who were captured during the war by the Red Army and were serving jail sentences in the labour camps. There were 839,084 women and 655,674 men.

These figures are from NKVD/KGB archives.

Thus, the CPSU, after only 7 months after the death of J.V. Stalin had been transformed into a living corpse.

After the astronomical growth of Soviet economy by 25% during the first five-year plan, and 19% during the second five-year plan, the economy plummeted to 0% growth, the USSR collapsed, dismembered by the internal and external forces, together with socialism during the period onwards from 1953.

Here is the breakdown of the traitors and collaborators with German fascists as provided by the NKVD/KGB archives:

Tragedy In Russia

Larisa Babienko

The tragic event in Moscow at a theatre did not just happen, but was a result of dismemberment of the Soviet Union, and only now are the pogroms, started in the south of Russia, by these "democrats" in the south have reached Moscow. At that time, the leadership of Gorbachev-Yeltsin was not very interested as to who killed whom and who just vanished into the thin air…or when millions were left without homes, citizenship or work – all spheres of the existence of a civilized man. Now, this hurricane has reached Moscow, and the victims were not only children of all the poor people who are daily dying in Chechnya, but also the rich victims, and even the "New Russians", who kill each other in vendettas as dogs. In capitalism and in the market economy the growth of greediness, jealousy, cruelty, gives rise to feelings of robbery and murder.

The capitalist liberal trade – is the shortest distance to a grave. The winners will also reach the grave a bit later, but it is a sure fact. The first victim of imperialism and its market economy was the Soviet Union, because our people were less informed and did not altogether believe all of the hidden ills and manifestations of capitalism. The USA, who with an unsatisfied appetite of greediness inside itself, organized this anti-government chaos within the USSR, but they will also eventually reach this grave which is awaiting them.

Not too many scores of years back the international brigands, serving imperialism and the greedy markets, went all over the world in order to capture slaves for their plantations. It is enough in any given country, with the help of internal nationalists and dissidents to organize chaos, change of governments and cause suffering to millions of people, and cause these millions of displaced people and even its highly qualified people to run to the West in order to find work and lively-hood. The USA, then a country of slaves as it is even now, the only difference is that these displaced people got a higher standard of living then they had before. How many untold thousands of people even now work as cheap wage slaves in the country? How many of them have forgotten, that their own country had their own rivers, their own farmlands and forests, fathers and mothers and their childhood?

But, after 9/11 - America also heard the danger bells ringing, giving them a signal, that mankind has now realized the politics and policies of US imperialism, and that the US citizens, due to the greediness of their rulers, they can also become victims and get an opportunity to run away to other countries of the world in order to seek refuge, a living and peace.

The role of journalists during these dangerous times is in not in praising without question the politicians, but they must seek the truth and the way out of this dangerous situation and, to force the politicians to take a course that will prevent war, genocide and try to show the road towards peace and understanding.

USA Warns Belarus Of Possible Breakdown Of Relations

By KOMINFORM

MINSK: The USA has warned Belarus that relations between the two countries may deteriorate if it refuses to cooperate with the OSCE (Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe) Chairman in Office Antonio Martins Da Cruz. This warning was made by the Head of the European Bureau of the Political-Military Affairs of the US Department of Justice, John Schmidt at an OSCE Assembly in Minsk, Byelorussia.

Mr. Schmidt said that "Belarus deported the International OSCE mission and flatly refused to hold discussions with OSCE chairman in office. Such behavior is a violation of the OSCE regulations and therefore unacceptable. Once again I would lie to ask president Lukashenko to change the political course of his country!"

Schmidt made a proposal "to send a group of high-ranking officials to Minsk in order to solve this problem by way of negotiations.

Conference of Free Trade Unions

By ALEXANDER PENIN

The Conference of Free Trade Unions of the October Railway was held in September of 2002 in Leningrad. This important Conference discussed the work of the commission of safety and planning actions of protest against the privatization of railway transport.

Nowadays the Russian trade unions are working in extremely hard and unsafe conditions on the railways, where safety is at a minimum and also no lighting is provided due to shortages plus industrial garbage that undermines the work and health.

The railway administration tries to hide all the accidents and deaths in order not to pay compensation. Because of the great lack of safety conditions, there was an accident on the Leningrad railway yards, where five railway workers were seriously injured. While they were in hospital, the administration tried to have them sign that this accident happened not during their working shift, but during off time.

The machinists on the trains are forced to work seven days per week, since the management will not hire extra workers.

The mechanics are forced to work on the locomotives and wagons outside in all weather, some times 25-40 degrees below zero, since the private ownership will not build or fix up the train sheds and the enclosed garages. There is no money for updating, but there is always money to build for the management big homes, cottages or to get new Mercedes cars.

The management themselves have their own bogus trade union, which basically is a bogus union, fighting the workers and defending the privatized management.

There is a move to get rid of over 500,000 railway workers. The bosses also use another effective method of getting rid of workers. Make the conditions so bad and dangerous, hard and unsafe that the workers themselves will quit.

The free trade unions themselves understand the importance of railways across Russia and its vast expanse of territory, and without the railways, Russia cannot exist.

Therefore we support the proposal of the International Transport Federation against the privatization of the railways in the world. On October 19th we held an International Day of Solidarity and Protest by the railway workers of the world. In Russia we held a picket in Leningrad at the headquarters of the Meeting of Cities.

Desecration Of Soviet Army War Cemetery

By N.W. Solovyov

In a very extensive and heart-rendering tale of the life and hardships of people of Lithuania, especially for the Russian speaking people living there and the ongoing vandalism, desecration of the monuments and graves of the Soviet Red Army soldiers who died liberating Lithuania.

Solovyov, together with other Soviet patriots have taken upon themselves to look after the graves. They protested to the city authorities in Pagegyay, but the city authorities, although they know who the perpetrators of this vandalism are, nevertheless do nothing about this, since they look at these vandals as "fighters against the Russian occupation of Lithuania." Now that Lithuania is "independent", the authorities are emulating now a quasi fascist-nationalist ideology and the Russian population that lives now in the Balkan republics is being harassed and treated as non-citizens.

These Soviet patriots themselves keep up the Red Army graves since the Lithuanian regime promotes fascism, nationalism and anti-Sovietism.
Unfortunately, we cannot publish the whole article due to lack of space, but we publish here some photographs of these dedicated Soviet patriots who undertook to keep watch and look after the Soviet Red Army cemeteries.

Soviet Youth Are Demonstrating!

On December 12, 2002, on the so-called "Yeltsin’s Constitution Day", the Moscow district of the Revolutionary Communist Youth League (Bolsheviks) took party in three planned actions.

First, we picketed outside the Council of Federation (Upper Chamber of the Russian Parliament). Putin’s regime now refuses to observe even these rudimentary bourgeois-democratic rights that the 1993 Constitution declared. That’s why our main slogan was "We will force you to abide by the Constitution!"

Second, we then moved to Pushkin Square, where we took part in a large demonstration against the war in Chechnya, which was called by various bourgeois-democratic groups. The banner of the RKSM(b) was raised over the square. The Bumbarash newspaper which we distributed was in high demand. We did not want to mix in with the other dubious political forces, which took part in this protest. We chanted slogans such as "Our Motherland is the USSR" and others.

To alert the attending multitude of people to the political prisoners, we chanted "Freedom to Political Prisoners!" The other participants showed a very keen interest in the "NRA case" and listened as we explained the Russian Security Service provocation against the RKSM(b) members, who are currently in prison on charges of terrorism.

Third – to close off this active day of demonstrations, the RKSM(b) joined the Moscow Union of Atheists to picket the Russian Ministry of Education. We protested against the introduction into schools of compulsory religious teachings, both Christian and Orthodox bigotry.
