COMMUNIQUE
72 communist and workers parties and organizations, coming from 45 countries took part in the 12th International Communist Seminar. Sixty-one other parties and organizations have sent messages of solidarity to the ICS. The ICS discussed the topic: "The Marxist-Leninist Party and the anti-imperialist front facing the war", during the five sessions:
Analysis of the US war policy after September 11,2001
The role of Stalin and of the CPSU(b) in the anti-fascist war – Lessons for today
The political and tactical tasks of the communists facing the issue of war
The work experiences of the party in the anti-imperialist and anti-war fronts
Perspectives for 2003-2004
Each session began with the presentation of a few main reports, followed by several complimentary reports and by a discussion of the reports. The discussions on the general resolution of the ICS 2003 constituted the main part of the 5th session.
"This general war is still in its initial stage and the victims of the American aggression are countries, which are among the smallest and the weakest. But it is obvious that, by increasing the scale of their aggression, the United States will threaten more and more the interests of the main capitalist competitors. They target in particular the Chinese Republic. They already threaten the openly and militarily the independence of socialist countries, like Cuba and North Korea. In collusion with Israel, they directly threaten the independence of Syria and Iran and the survival of the Palestinian people.
In the face of the grave threats menacing the world in 2003, our decisive task is to unify all communist forces in each country and to reinforce them continuously. History has proved that without the leading role of a genuine communist party, without as unified communist party, without a party closely linked to the broad popular masses, victory against imperialism is impossible."
It was namely decided to establish a European Coordination of the anti-imperialist forces inside the anti-war movement. A conference of this coordination committee will take place during the weekend of October 4-5 in Brussels. The texts of the ICS 2003 are available on the website www.wpb.be/icm.htm now.
