On June 11, 2003, the Central Coordination Council of the Russian Society for Friendship with Foreign Countries had met for the second time. At this meeting Georgi Tikhonov was elected as Chairman of the Society (with one vote against and one abstention.) Vladimir Chechentsev and Viktor . Bourenkov were elected as Deputy Chairmen unanimously.
Aleksei Prigarin had been co-opted into the Central Coordination Council to represent the Russian Communist Party-CPSU, as this party has nominated him to the Council.
This meeting has unanimously adopted the Charter in its proposed form with minor corrections.
On July 3 the representatives of the RCWP-RPC will hold a reception for the delegation from the Workers' Party of Belgium on their visit to Moscow.
The next event the Society will do is to organize a joint rally around the 26th of July movement with other supporters of Cuban socialism to mark the. 50th Anniversary of this event that sparked the Cuban revolution. This will include an event coordinated with the Cuban Embassy in Moscow – the support of Cuban political prisoners in Miami and an action of protest in front of the US Embassy.
Viktor Bourenkov reported on the latest developments of the International Council for Friendship and Solidarity with Soviet People. This meting took as decision to act accordingly in light of the coming Second World Congress in 2004 being organized by the Organizing Committee for Friendship and Solidarity with Soviet People in September of 2004 in Europe.
Furthermore, the Society aims at increasing many contacts and cooperation with other pro-Soviet and internationalist groups.
