Opportunism – Ally of Imperialism

Prof. Vladimir
Herasymchuk

The process of the so-called "Globalization", means to have the absolute rule over the world by the USA, is getting stronger. This encompasses all aspects of life. This "globalization" is meant to dominate not only outer space, but all countries of the world. But at the same time, the revolutionary consciousness is growing in the world. Heading this revolutionary movement are the Bolsheviks. But with the rule in our former USSR of criminal elements that are in power, the flowering of the Bolshevik idea is getting harder.

Among parties of left orientation in the Ukraine at present are: All Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks, Communist Party of Ukraine, Progressive Socialist Party of Ukraine, Socialist Party of Ukraine, Communist Party of Workers and Peasants and many others. Many of these parties are far from being of Marxist-Leninist orientation. The biggest drawback and danger to the left movement is opportunism.

If we look at the daily practical work of these left-wing parties, it seems that the Progressive Socialist Party with Natalia Vitrenko at its head, is the party doing all in their power to promote the rebirth of the USSR. They struggle to change the course of the present bourgeois reforms and to give them more of a socialist character (!). The leader of the party is Dr. of Economics, Natalia Vitrenko, Vladimir Marchenko, and Mikhail Sidorchuk are proposing urgently a move towards a union of Russia, Byelorussia and Ukraine. But in the present political climate of creeping fascism, this is a very hard struggle. The PSPU has demonstrated against US actions in Yugoslavia, Afghanistan and Iraq. Vitrenko is always fighting the present criminal elements in the government, plus defending the rights of the working class. But…

Unfortunately, the Progressive Socialist Party in its program and in its actions has many enemies from the oligarch regime if Ukraine, headed by Kuchma himself, but also from the so-called "opposition" in the Ukrainian parliament. We can readily understand the anti-communist opposition and attacks by Moroz of the Socialist Party of Ukraine. His party is far away from the tenants of Marxism-Leninism. But how can we explain the actions of the First Secretary Simonenko of the Communist Party of Ukraine and his action of cooperation with Yushenko, the leader of the right-wing coalition of Ukraine?

For the foreign readers of NSC it must be pointed out that they have to understand the situation here. The present regime of President Kuchma has served his overseas master well, and now Washington has no more use for him since a new tactic must be put into place, Washington long ago saw that there is a need to replace Kuchma, the people are beginning to see what is what now regarding Kuchma, Time for a new face, a new mask, but the same programs…and therefore a new candidate for president of Ukraine was proposed and arranged, and he is Mr. Yushenko. His very slavish dedication to Washington is beyond any question. With the guiding hand of Uncle Sam, a new anti-Kuchma party was organized and financed, called "Arise you Ukraine!" This party is uniting the so-called "opposition" in the bloc of Yushenko, which includes the Communist Party of Ukraine and the Socialist Party of Ukraine. What is it that unites these left-wing and right-wing partiers? What is it that they have in common? What role are the Communists playing in the game of a US sponsored candidate for the president? This is the plan of US imperialism to strangle hold Ukraine into complete submission and to be a colony for natural resources and cheap labour…aside from controlling the internal and external policies of Ukraine and prevent at all costs from any fraternal union with Russia and Byelorussia.

The question is not about Kuchma! He is now a complete nobody in the country’s government. He is no longer an asset to Uncle Sam. He served his purpose for US imperialism and for the local capitalist and exploitive class. Kuchma was nothing more than a stupid marionette for US imperialism and in the hands of the local mafia structures. Therefore a need for a new personality is needed that will be able to hide the same treachery as Kuchma, but with a much better mask to hide the rushed campaign for Ukraine to be a colony of US imperialism.

The question that is begged to be asked is, as why these so called "communists" are taking part in this charade?

Yes, Kuchma regime must be eliminated and defeated. But not only Kuchma himself – the whole regime must be thrown out! For this, the dedicated Bolsheviks are fighting, and the real communists. For this also, the Progressive Socialist Party of Ukraine is striving, headed by Vitrenko. Unfortunately she does not get the support from many of the left parties and movements, who are sick with opportunism. She is fighting against opportunism and the pseudo-revolutionaries. Her authority is growing. Last June there was local elections in Chernigov region of Ukraine - Vitrenko was practically a sure winner as her program and popularity and activity convinced the voters that she would represent them in parliament. This was realized by President Kuchma and the bourgeois state and by the so-called "anti Kuchma opposition".

A political process was undertaken, against all the present laws and Natalia Vitrenko was barred from participating as a candidate in the election. Is this unheard of in Ukraine? Not at all… all this is not new in the workings of the present capitalist state of Ukraine…

Yes, the problem of organizing a united anti-globalist, anti capitalist front in Ukraine is a pressing problem. But in order for this united front to be a success, we have to know as to who is who! This is necessary for not only ordinary members of the left parties and movements, but also by all of the working class of the country. The struggle is getting more crucial and much sharper…
