Editor of French Edition of NSC
Dear companions:

I am delighted to participate in this 11th Anniversary of NSC. I take great pride in being amongst you and I carry fraternal greetings to all of you, along with the best wishes of all the readers of the French Edition of Northstar Compass.
First of all, I want to congratulate Michael Lucas and Helen Lucas and all those companions who work on the Editorial Committee of NSC, for having given birth to NSC and to have managed during these 11 years to stay alive, to win international readership and to have become the official organ of the International Council for Friendship and Solidarity with Soviet People.
It is a long history and a very great success! It took a lot of courage and steadfastness, mainly on the part of Michael Lucas and Helen Lucas and also his family. Special thanks must go to the Society of Carpatho-Russian Canadians who help both financially and who offer their premises to be the headquarters not only of NSC but of the International Council and the Canadian Friends of Soviet People. This is in spite of all sorts of provocations and adversity during these 11 years.
NSC has worked in identifying the true cause of the capitalist restoration in the Soviet Union and how to draw lessons from it. In this way NSC helps us to struggle against all forms of opportunism and revisionism, to realize the situation created by the collapse of the USSR and the introduction of wild and rampant capitalism in this country and in all of the former Peoples Republics in Eastern Europe. NSC is faithful to the revolutionary principals of Marxism-Leninism.
Confronted by this reactionary offensive, NSC felt that it was necessary to launch a counter-offensive in favour of the exploited and oppressed masses and to help them think that the future is socialism for mankind.
We are very happy that we received a message from Viktor Bourenkov in Moscow, the Secretary of the newly formed Russian Society for Friendship with Foreign Countries, that this organization is formed and will unite with other groups in order to be the partner of the International Council for Friendship and Solidarity with Soviet People and will fulfill the decisions made at the First World Congress held in Toronto in 2001. We hope that soon we shall receive the Charter of this organization and plans for future cooperation.
I support the proposal for having this newly formed Russian Society of Friendship to start popularizing this international organization and the NSC amongst all of the former Soviet republics and in the near future to be able to publish the Russian Edition of Northstar Compass.
I would like to suggest that our Soviet comrades undertake to write in each issue of NSC their analyses and most profoundly about the situation there, and to inform our readers how was it that after Stalin’s death the revisionists were able to restore wild capitalism and was there any fight back against the revisionist clique inside the CPSU, started during Krushchev’s time?
We hope that the readers of NSC all over the world will start to form in their countries Friendship Societies with the Soviet people.
Regarding the holding of the 2nd Word Congress in 2004, Michael Lucas gave a report that other venues were solicited and it seems that due to the financial outlay in Euro dollars or other currency, the best venue is still Canada in 2004 - also air travel restrictions will produce uncertainty. Since some of us cannot get visas to Russia, this presents also a problem.
Because of all this, I would like to suggest that we think about postponing this 2nd Congress until the world situation improves or becomes much clearer.
The main thing for all of us now is to keep on and continue to improve the work that we are doing and try our very best to help Michael and Helen to manage the fantastic work they are doing, with the important help from the Society of Carpatho-Russian Canadians.
Onwards toward the 12th Anniversary of NORTHSTAR COMPASS!
