In many issues of NSC we touched upon the subject that one of the most important method of bourgeois propaganda is the use of outright lies. As an example, practically daily in all of the Ukrainian capitalist media, there is ongoing propaganda about "Starvation of 1933". The propaganda uses "facts" that are lies, absurd and even using the terminology "forced to starvation". There are numbers thrown out that 5 million to 10 million people died in Ukraine in 1933 through forced Communist planned starvation.

In fact, there was NO starvation in the Ukraine! There was hunger, yes! The enemies at that time, and those present day ones are doing the same work, in all of those and the present undermining activities. Those enemies of the Soviet state and socialism in 1930’s burnt thousands acres of wheat, wrecked machinery, assassinated scores of party leaders, killed thousands upon thousands of live stock. Because of these enemies, there were 139 regions in Ukraine which suffered hunger due to this sabotage (Y.E. Oyaperv). Yes, this was a tragedy of hunger – not starvation! But how can these present enemies of Socialism speculate and glee over that tragedy that their ancestors caused?

But, the present situation in Ukraine is not only hunger, but the word that must be used is – genocide! There is a plan to devastate all of Ukraine not only economically, but depopulate it also. In view of the plans by the West, as mapped out by the Rome Club, the population of Ukraine must come down to 15-20 million people. This recommendation is being put into force! The population of Ukraine from 1992-2004 dropped from 52.2 millions to 47.4 millions. Besides this, there are over 7,000,000 Ukrainians that are working outside of Ukraine – in many countries of the world – forced to go in order to find work. These people could not find work or future in this "independent-democratic Ukraine." Compare this to the life in former Soviet Union!

If in 1991 the birth rate was about 630.8 children, in 2001 the birth rate fell to only 375.5 children. Meanwhile, the death rate is rising alarmingly due to the hard economic conditions. The life span of men before was 73 years, but now it’s only 63 years. These facts point that we are on the same level as people in Algeria, Peru and Honduras – third world countries.

The economic conditions, the unemployment, the privatization, the exploitation, the held back wages sometimes close to 8-10 months…all this is devastating Ukraine.

The physical calamity of the population under this capitalist system is shocking. There are over 90,000 narcotic users ranging in age from 15-35 years. Alcoholism is dangerously on the rise – over 2,000,000 Ukrainians are alcoholics. This is all due to hardships, unemployment, vile propaganda, the promotion of individualism, pornography, robbery, murder and all other ills brought on by the present government of this "Independent" Ukraine

In conclusion, I must mention – ethico-psychological vile propaganda over the population – especially targeting the young people and children. This propaganda of indifference to any politics, its understanding and its struggle for solutions to the present daily problems… the "I do not care attitude to life or to the future!" This propaganda tries to mitigate any idea of struggle, of any better future for them or for humanity Unfortunately many of these young people who received their schooling during Soviet times also fell into this "get away from it all trap"! But during Soviet times they were taught to look forward to the future, to a better life and a better physical and mental being.

The meeting of the Russian Duma that took place on September 22, 2004 in Moscow, as was expected, became very hot in discussing the tragedy that happened in Belsan, the Caucasus region. It was supposed to be a discussion and analyses about the causes of this tragedy that the parliamentary members in the Duma were to have discussed. But Putin’s fraction in the Duma "One Russia" assigned only two and a half hours. This whole time was taken up by the Government statement and their whitewash policy, but there was no opportunity for discussions or alternative analyses and causes of the tragedy and the reasons and what measures to take in order to eliminate this.

When Deputy Viktor Tiulkin of the Russian Communist Workers Party asked the following question: " Why this method of bypassing the need for analyses?" The government representative Vasiliev said that it’s not very important, because the population is not interested in political debates or analyses, but what laws will be adopted and what sentences should be given to those responsible – not why this tragedy happened?

The speaker of the Duma, Boris Gryzlov tried to placate the members that in the near future there will be a Commission set up to deal with this, but not now…time is running out for this discussion.

But Viktor Tiulkin again spoke up and said that we should look into the causes of all these conflicts – and the actual blame is the dismemberment of the USSR and establishment of capitalism. He said that even Lenin in his time said: "Capitalism – that means war!" Tiulkin commented in the Duma: "We should all tell the people that all of us are responsible for these tragedies, by not being more vigilant".

Tiulkin also charged that President Putin is following in the footsteps of Yeltsin and Gorbachev. He also proposed about twenty amendments to the statement by Putin’s government, but they were all voted out or thrown out. He pointed out that fighting terrorism as is being done by US Imperialism is not realistic, since US is now the biggest terrorist nation that there is.

Tiulkin proposed that the Russian Duma should follow the method of what happened in Chile – impeachment of Boris Yeltsin, take him to court and sentence him for his criminal activities. It was the policy of Yeltsin, Gorbachev and now Putin which, has devastated the economic life of the Soviet people and this in many respects gave rise to struggles and terrorism, which during the USSR period was not heard of.

The other bourgeois parties and their leaders blamed all this on Bolsheviks and the Russian Revolution of 1917. One of the favorite outcries of these new "democrats" in the Duma against the Communists is: "Oh how I hate you people!"

Aside from all this, as was predicted, the majority in Putin’s government will not put the causes of the terrorist tragedies in front of the Commission that they will appoint – in other words, it will become a white wash.

These Russian Duma "democrats" in their wisdom to solve these problems, they’re putting the wagon in front of the horse! No, they even forgot the horse!

In a radio news item last month, a US Corporation got the consent, after agreeing on a price, to produce in the US, a new Vodka and call it "Kalishnikov Vodka".

"Soviet?" General Kalishnikov, the inventor-designer of the famous rifle Kalishnikov AK-47 - has given this corporation the right to his name!!

This General was awarded the Lenin Medal plus other Soviet Honors, and now this traitor, being 85 years old, sold out to capitalism to use his name on a bottle of Vodka!?
