Russian Duma speaker denounces World War II revisionism

Novosti Agency

"Various attempts to downplay the Soviet Union's contribution in defeating Nazism must be resolutely repulsed", State Duma Speaker Boris Gryzlov said.

"We are deeply convinced that we must deal a resolute rebuff to attempts to rewrite our history, to downplay the anti-Hitler coalition's role and the Soviet Union's contribution to defeating the Nazi war machine." Gryzlov made this statement at an important international parliamentary conference that was devoted to the 60th Anniversary of the Great Patriotic War. He also said that: "Attempts to prove that the victory over Nazism had established Soviet totalitarianism in the Baltics and some other Eastern European countries are extremely dangerous. Such a blasphemous distortion of historical reality insults the sacred memory of tens of mil/ions of people who died fighting the Nazis!"

At the same time, he noted that the attempts to rehabilitate the German Nazis, their allies and accomplices is outrageous, since they were branded as traitor by the victorious Allied forces.

"It is our sacred duty to preserve the memory of those who fought Nazism and Fascism and ensured the Great Victory at the expense of their lives. This is particularly important now, since the growth of neo-fascist forces is currently reasserting themselves in some countries. We find it ignominious and painful to say that their list includes Russia as well!"

"We must prevent the ideas of nationalism and racist supremacy from winning the minds of the new generations, who did not experience the horrors of the Second World War!"

COMMENT:

Excellent statement Mr. Gryzlov, but, why did you and Putin disallow the carrying of the Soviet Flag that was hoisted by the Red Army unto the top of the German Reichstag in Berlin in 1945, to be carried in the Victory Parade this May? Why? Words are cheap! It is deeds that count Mr. Speaker!

Fascist noose around Russia’s neck is getting tighter

By RICK ROZOFF

Mongolia and the US are conducting a joint sham battle in Ulan Bator. This sham battle in the region is 65 kilometers west of Ulan Bator and this is the third joint military exercise between US and Mongolian troops since 2003.

The US 28th and 70th Marine Corps plus Mongolian soldiers took part inn this joint action.

The question is why? Against whom?

Will Kyrgyz "revolution" trigger changes in other central Asian republics?

By RIA Pyotr Goncharov

MOSCOW: the events in Kyrgyzstan and the resignation of President Askar Nakayev are results of the "domino effect". It is worth noting that the US and EU started preparing the ground for such a change of power in Kyrgyzstan well in advance.

Not only had various international "democratic" institutions already appeared, but a powerful network of "non-governmental organizations" were set up in the Republic, most of which were, and continue to be, financed by the USA. Nevertheless, the growing event is just the first steps in a broader network to change the government in Kazakhstan, which is a bigger and more valuable prize.

By "taming" Kazakhstan and "knocking" it out of the Russian sphere on influence, the US would be able to solve many of its own problems – from the question of the Caspian energy resources, to establishing control over the trans-regional gas and oil pipelines, including those extending to China.

Bassayev Pledges Renewed Struggle Against Russia

Chechen rebel warlord Shamil Bassayev has threatened Russia with new terrorist attacks in retaliation for the killing of the separatist leader Asian Maskhadov. He said that: "now I am released from any commitments to peace."

Putin Is Going To Israel

President Putin visited Israel at the end of April and met with Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and other top Israeli officials, reported BBC. This came as there were tensions regarding the sale of arms by Russia to Syria. Israeli government wants to stop these sales and it is interesting to know whether Putin had buckled on this question. The truth will come out eventually.

One hundred multi-millionaires make more money than one quarter of the Russian yearly GNP budget. In no other country is there such a collection of these multi-millionaires concentrated in one city, than it is now in Moscow!

Russia is losing its population through early deaths, due to the hard economic conditions, plus a very low birthrate and immigration. Capitalist economists like those writing in the British "Economist", predict that since the USSR was dismembered, in 50 years the population will shrink to only 100 million or less.

Belarus Restores Defense "Stalin Line" Complex

ITAR-TASS, April 11, 2005

In honor of and to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of World War II, a Byelorussian charitable organization has started the movement to restore this "Stalin Line", which was 'the famous defensive complex.

"This will be a monument to all the Soviet Red Army men of tragic June, 1941, when German fascists invaded the USSR. The Soviet engineers worked in this defensive line before the start of the Great Patriot War, 1941-1945, knowing that Germany was planning to invade the Soviet Union," said the Chairman of the charity, Alexander Metla, who was one of the initiators of this project.

"The Stalin Line was started to be built in the late 1930's along the "old border" of the Soviet Union, when Minsk, for instance had been a border city. Around 20 fortified areas that included about 4,000 pillboxes were built from the Barents Sea to the Black Sea. Four fortified areas alone were built on the territory of Byelorussia."

When Western Byelorussia was under Polish rule, as was Western Ukraine, acceded to the Soviet Union in 1939, this "Stalin Line" was mothballed. But, when Hitler invaded the USSR, these former defensive installations played a decisive role in almost stopping the German tanks that were rolling towards Moscow. They ran into fierce resistance precisely near Minsk.

"Every pill-box there turned into a sort of a small heroic Brest Fortress containing their onslaught for several days on end", Metla noted.

This work of restoration is being conducted by the engineering troops of the Defense Ministry, Interior and border troops as well as by Byelorussian civil organizations.

They want to have this restoration done in time for May 9th, the 60th Anniversary of the Great Victory.

All motorists that drive past this complex slow down and hoot their car horns in memory of the Soviet soldiers who had remained there for good, fulfilling their duty to the end for the Motherland.

Uzbekistan Opens Criminal Case Against Soros Outfit

AGENCE FRANCE-PRESSE

Uzbekistan has now started proceedings against the Soros International Republican Institute, while last year they expelled the Open Society Institute of the US billionaire George Soros, which had been particularly active in the educational sphere and the media sector. In neighboring Kyrgyzstan, the ousted veteran leader Askar Akayev repeatedly blamed foreign-funded groups for fanning unrest. These US sponsored Institutes buy up TV station channels and newspapers.

They started to organize the youth, and pay the leaders of these groups in American dollars, and they are supported, well fed and have offices, radio channels and TV channels, all under the publicity of promoting "democracy".

This method was used in Yugoslavia, Georgia, Ukraine and is being tried in all other former Soviet republics.

Duma Rejects Putin's Agreement for German Penetration of Industry

Agence France-Presse

Russia's parliament last April 8 almost unanimously (377-1) voted a warning to President Putin against plans to allow the German transnational corporation giant Siemens to acquire the controlling stake in the strategic engineering enterprise "Silovye Mashiny" (Power Machines). The Duma stated that this sale must not be allowed, although Putin had already signed an agreement while in Germany with German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder. This "Power Machines" in Russia makes mostly energy equipment but is very heavily producing parts for the Russian defense sector, including its nuclear fleet.

Russia's economic development minister gave the backing to this deal in spite of how the Duma voted, because Germany promised Putin's regime $323 million of investments.

How about if the Russian workers in this important industrial enterprise take a strike action against this sell-out!

Call issued for a national strike in Ukraine

From INTERFAX-UKRAINE

Viktor Yanukovich, who was cheated out of the presidency in Ukraine at the last elections, said that a nation-wide political strike is going to be organized due to the arrest of Kolesnikov of the Donbas Russian speaking region, who is now the first political prisoner of the new regime of Yushchenko.

The new Ukrainian nationalist regime has taken the steps to inflict hardships on the Eastern Donetsk region, because it voted against the present president – the prices of goods here have risen sharply and the delays of payments of pensions. Attempts to divide the region with territorial-administrative reforms and the punishment of its political leaders are now in effect.

COMMENT:

We would suggest that those thousands of duped foreign "observers" that Imperialism sent to Ukraine to oversee the election, be sent again, to follow up on their bad judgment of putting this nationalist, undemocratic and pro-fascist Yushchenko into power. BUT, let the hundreds of thousands of dollars not be again paid for by the taxpayers' money of those countries from where these "observers" were sent. They will find out that neo-fascism is rising in Ukraine "thanks to this "democrat" Yushchenko!

Azerbaijan party accuses US Ambassador

From AssA-lrada

BAKU: The Azerbaijan Communist Party has issued a statement accusing the US Ambassador Reno Harnish of interfering in Azerbaijan's internal affairs. The statement said that particularly alarming is Harnish's cooperation and help given to the opposition parties that were involved in the last October 15-16, 2003 post-election disturbances, Rauf Gurbanov, Deputy Chairman told Parliament.

He said that the US Ambassador's actions resemble those by other US diplomats in former Soviet republics that experienced these "velvet revolutions" in Georgia, Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan. The US Embassies are the centers of such revolutions.

There is no need for the government to conduct a dialogue with these destructive parties under foreign control.

A. Saharov or Z. Alferov

Felix Gorelik

Two Academicians, both with high schooling! A. Saharov, one of the inventors of the hydrogen bomb, that made USSR unbeatable. Zhores Alferov, a great physicist, Laureate and a Noble Prize winner. You can compare them as scholars, but if you' compare them politically speaking, between them there is a great and insurmountable divide.

A. Saharov was the darling of the "democrats." He became known not as a scientist, but as a "dissident" He laid the foundations for the dismemberment of the Soviet Union. He spoke and wrote word for word what he heard on "Voice of America, Radio Free Europe" and other media of the West. He was never in need of money – dollars. His anti-Soviet and anti-Socialist activities were such that the West tried to put all of its money into this "dissident". He even promoted and demanded during the reign of another traitor, Gorbachev, that the USSR should be dismembered into 50 small states. The results are seen today when millions of people perished or left the country to try and make a living.

Zhores Alferov defended the Soviet Union and Socialism and he strove against the counterrevolution. He was and is a Soviet patriot. He remembers his older brother Marx, who died during the war defending the Motherland. "What would my brother think and say if he saw what we did to our Motherland for which he gave his life?"

He did not turn against his people; he looked at the situation realistically. His authority is great amongst the academics and Soviet people. That is why the present Russian regime tries to get him to come over to its side. But he stands firm. He tells Putin himself exactly what he thinks.

Not too long ago Russia celebrated his 75 birthday. The auditorium was full of people. There was a letter and a medal from President Putin. In reply, Alferov pulls from his pocket a red party card and his red Soviet passport and then 'he told the audience: "See, do not be jealous, I am a citizen of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics!"

This was a demonstration of a great Soviet patriot and a Soviet citizen. He loves his Motherland; he struggles for its resurrection.

Which one can be called a real human being and a real man of courage?

A Day on the Russian TV

President Putin always repeats over the daily Russian TV channels that Russia has become a "free and a democratic country", that there is being built a "lawful state apparatus" and praising the steps taken from "totalitarianism to democracy". And this by a former KGB officer who gave his oath to defend the Soviet State and Socialism?

TV is the barometer of the daily life in Russia and shows how capitalism works. I will just give a little summary of the Russian TV I watched one day, April 2, 2005.

"A program exposed a gang of sex trade criminals, who promise young 15-16 year-old girls jobs outside the county as waitresses, dancers and housekeepers and then sell them to foreign pimps for sex trade in Turkey, Thailand, Israel and other countries. They pay each one of them $100 as a lure and then ship them to their destination, where they wind up in a bordello, having to serve 600 clients per month. Every night they had to serve 5-6 clients. If they complain, they are beaten up, raped, killed or threatened by the police as illegal immigrants, with no passport and no protection. According to statistics, in present-day Russia and other former Soviet republics, this sex trade amounts to about 500,000 girls being sold into sex slavery. One of these sex slave gangs was arrested, but there are hundreds of others that operate at will, in this Putin's "free society."

There are daily killings, robberies, assassinations that are hired by the criminal gangs and even by state authorities. Putin just slapped one of these oligarchs Khodorovsky. Why only one? Because Putin wants to make certain that the other oligarchs tow the line and help to finance his administration, or otherwise they might just get a 5-10 years jail sentence, after robbing the country of billions upon billions of dollars! Even if they go to jail, their assets are not taken away from them.

Putin wants the privatization program to go ahead quicker than it is now. Meanwhile, the present Russian films are full of criminal stories – life is cheap, gangsters are looked up to – in other words, crime is being glorified and thus this daily barrage of criminal films desensitizes the population and makes them forget as to who is the BIGGEST criminal of them all!

Each year there are over 150,000 killed. There are new cemeteries springing up to handle these corpses. This is the REAL Russia of capitalism and Putin as a lackey of US imperialism is one of them. Karl Marx was correct that capitalism was built on blood and dirt since its inception.

Please look into this daily mirror of Russia, Mr. Putin!

Lithuania and Estonia Refuse to Participate to Mark the Defeat of Nazi Germany

Russia has received refusals by the governments of Estonia and Lithuania to attend the 60th Anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany. In Moscow there will gather all top representatives of the Allies on this May festivity. These two countries do not recognize the defeat of Fascism!

Open Letter to Chancellor of Germany

Galina Sawchenko

Dear Editor of NSC:

When I read and confirmed the true position of Bush, when he said that it was the United States that basically won the Second World War, while at the same time the new German Storm of lies about the Great Patriotic War to the young generation, stating that the Second World War was fought between two Hitler’s, German and Russian (Soviet), I wrote an open letter to the German Chancellor and received a reply on which I comment in this letter.

Dear Mr. Chancellor!

My father, Bulgakov Ivan M. was killed in defending Stalingrad. For 200 days and nights the Red Army was fighting to the death by the walls of Stalingrad. This was the hardest fought battle of the Second World War. On October 14, 1942 the German fascists sent up 1,540 fighter and bombers to try and bomb Stalingrad into oblivion. Around Stalingrad everything was burning, even the earth was on fire. The Volga River was burning and the flames reached up to the sky to over 800 meters. The earth and the sky were aflame and the sun was not to be seen because of the flames and the smoke. But the Soviet soldiers withstood this barbaric onslaught.

This battle on the Volga was the turning point of the Second World War. All the people of the world understood that Hitlerism is going to be defeated. Our victory during that war was not only a heroic historical period of our country – this glorious victory shall forever be remembered by all the peoples of this planet.

Our country and people give respect to the fallen heroes and the blood is still oozing in unto the monument on the Mamaev Hill in Stalingrad to the heroic deed of our soldiers – in honour also of my father who died defending Stalingrad.

I was two years old when the Nazis killed my father, a person of a peaceful profession. My father did not invade your country, he was defending his Motherland. I have no memento of my father: no documents, no photograph, since our town of Voronezh was under German occupation. All the family of my father were killed or are dead now.

I was brought up by P.V. Savchenko, therefore I do not need any German compensation, a daughter of a dead Red Army soldier, according to our laws, this is not allowed. Does present Germany think now that all the crimes committed can be absolved by some monetary compensation – to smear over all that I went through after my 20-year old father was killed by the German Fascists? My father would have been 80-years old now. I do not know him as a face and I do not know where his bones are buried…

Therefore I decided to come to Berlin on behalf of my father and to stand a minute in front of the Reichstag in Berlin, on which our Red Flag was hoisted by the heroic Red Army soldiers, of the 756 rifle brigade – by Captain Samsonov, Sergeant Egorov and Kantaria.

I have no finances to travel to Berlin, Mr. Chancellor, that is why I’m writing to you in order to help me get to Berlin on May 9th for the 60th Anniversary of the end of World War II, the defeat by Soviet people of German Nazism, - just for one day only - at the expense of the German authorities, instead of the compensation that is being offered. Let this be thanks to my father for his heroism, a me, a small compensation for his death at the hands if your Germany.

Yours truly,
Galina Savchenko
Kiev, Ukraine

COMMENT:

She received a reply stating that the German Chancellor and his Government cannot comply with her request, since there is no budget for this sort of request!

US Plans Velvet Revolutions in Armenia & Azerbaijan

From The Messenger (Georgia)

As reported in the Russian newspaper "Novoye Vremya", Tbilisi looks forward to the upcoming visit of President George Bush. Georgia's President Saakashvili already said that he plans to show and convince Bush about Georgia's key strategic role as a regional center for the spreading of democracy.

The paper wrote that: "At the present time, the opposition towards Russian influence in post-Soviet space has already started. As a result of the latest statements by the US government about countries that strive for "democratization and reconstruction", there are expectations already that Armenia and Azerbaijan will be called upon to repeat the Georgian scenario".

The paper also reported that the US has already established in the Caucasus the center for "Cooperation for Reconstruction and Stabilization" to start these "velvet revolutions."

Another newspaper "GazetaSNG" said that according to leaked documents, US in the next 10 years will target Russia and China, but especially China, because Americans need a base and Kyrgyzstan will play that role.

Let’s Do Away with the Syndrome that this Regime in the Kremlin is Legitimate!

Tamara Khabarova

Speech delivered by T. Khabarova, Chairperson of the Executive Committee of the Congress of Citizens of the USSR – dedicated to the 14th Anniversary of the All-Union Referendum in 1991 which voted for the existence of the USSR. Meeting was held in Moscow last March 17, 2005

Dear comrades!

Please let me turn to those of you who, year after year do come on this day, in order to pay homage to the father of the USSR, Vladimir Lenin. Thanks also to all of those who voted on our Resolution that the Soviet passports are to remain legal. Those who promised and gave their oath that: WE ARE AND WILL REMAIN CITIZENS OF THE USSR!

Yes, we are and will remain citizens of the USSR. We are not nostalgic as our enemies say, but we are ready to fight and defend the resurrection of our Soviet Motherland from the transnational imperialism. We are certain that the day is coming when over the Kremlin the Red Flag with the hammer and sickle will again proudly fly, and all other reactionary symbols will be thrown in front of the Lenin Mausoleum as were thrown down in 1945!

Glory to all those who remained faithful and do carry on when our Soviet people voted overwhelmingly to remain citizens of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

With every year there are more and more of us here, because the terrible conditions that this present regime has instituted has forced the people to think more realistically that the change has to come and that the USSR has to be reborn.

But in order for this to happen, there must be built an all-inclusive movement in the country. Yes we had the CPSU, but we also had the Soviet Union. Now we have communist parties as such, but if we want to have a return to the USSR, we must have a strong Soviet Patriotic Movement, that will unite a majority of the people.

Time has come long ago for such a unified movement to take root and grow into a mighty force. But for this to happen, we must get rid of this syndrome that this present regime is "legitimate". The State is the organ that is built by the people.

But this one, which sits today in the Kremlin, it is the organ that fulfills the commands and wishes of the United States of America. This is not a state or government, this is an occupational commandatura. This was started thirteen years ago when this regime was incorporated into the International Monetary Fund – meaning that Russia is directly in the clutches of globalization and the New World Order!

In order to struggle against this occupying regime, people have the right to use every possible form of struggle, in order to defeat the occupiers. People not only have the right, but all of us have a duty to overthrow this regime from the bottom up. We Communists must be united in our efforts and ideology as well as purpose in order to free ourselves from the dogma that this regime is legitimate and cannot be overthrown!

Dear comrades: Just a year ago our organization was practically the only sponsor of these meetings. But today, this movement is active all over the former Soviet Union. Let us work even harder, and the day is coming, no doubt about it, around us is our Soviet Land, now and forever Soviet Union!

Yalta Conference to be Honoured

From Russia Reform Monitor

Volgograd Mayor Yevgeny Ishchenko has announced that the city, once known as Stalingrad, will erect a monument to Stalin, Roosevelt and Churchill to honour their 1945 conference in Yalta. "We are talking about eternalizing the leaders of world powers, the powers that won the war, about eternalizing an historic event." The Mayor said that "the monument was not to honour Stalin, but to commemorate the Nazi defeat and the Yalta conference." The city will also change some street names in honour of the Battle of Stalingrad, Ishchenko said.

COMMENT:

It is interesting that this Russian Reform Monitor # 1257 of April 2, 2005, when giving the names of the leaders, wrote thus: "featuring a monument to the late Soviet dictator" ... without even giving his full name, while giving the full names of Churchill and Roosevelt who were the enemies of the Soviet people. The Mayor I presume is not old enough to have fought at Stalingrad, but, he should know that the Soviet Red Army men going into battle, the cry on their lips was, "For Stalin and the Motherland!" You can see the hand of the present Putin regime in this. I am also positive that when they rename some streets, the name of Stalin will not be there.

My advice to the present Mayor of Volgograd: Read up on the history of the Battle of Stalingrad! Rename the city to Stalin grad! Stop being a lackey by fulfilling orders of US Imperialism! Your thirty pieces of silver will eventually catch up with you!

Klaipeda, Lithuania

Our long-time reader and correspondent, a Russian by nationality who lives in Lithuania, sends us different materials exposing the reactionary policies of the present regime in Lithuania and other former Baltic republics, and the discrimination against the Russian people living there.

Among many extensive articles there is the expose that Riga, capital of Latvia has become a haven for narcotics trade in Europe. Solovjov is also a poet and his many poems denote the patriotism towards the Soviet Union and socialism. His many letters of protests to the leaders of these Baltic States are full of details as he exposes the reactionary regimes here and their subservience to US imperialism.

He and many others constantly look after the monuments to the Soviet soldiers who died liberating the Baltic republics from fascism. There are also many monuments that the present regimes are destroying – making certain that the young generations do not know the real history.

At the left is a self-portrait of N.V. Solovjov and a photo of the loving care that these Soviet patriots take of these monuments.

Russia, Do Not Get Fooled!

By GALINA SAVCHENKO

Please tell me, would Stalin have come to the Ukraine after the "orange counterrevolution," with two designated assassinated ministers, to hug and kiss the new President Yushchenko – and also with the new US stooge that was put-into place, the premier-minister Timoshenko?

NEVER!. This premier-minister is wanted by the Prosecutor General of Russia and Mr. Putin comes down to shake her hand and give her a hug!

Russia must never forget on what counterrevolutionary storms came all of these "orange" revolutions in former Soviet republics! These CIS republics were born in order to forever try and prevent them from uniting as they were before in the USSR!

All of these "revolutions" were financed by US Imperialism, They were well organized, well financed and using all means to destabilize and confuse the people.

People now in these "democratic" republics change their oligarchs with new oligarchs, but the situation remains the same.

Who was it that helped all of these former backward nations to gain their freedom from despotic rulers, who brought them industrialization, schooling, medical care and cultural development? It was Soviet Russia that helped all of these backward nations to rise up from poverty and ignorance.

For 14 years I have been hounded by the Ukrainian bourgeois secret service because of my writings and my activity in demonstrations.

It is a tragedy that this 60th Anniversary has come in this terrible political situation in former Soviet Union. Bush cynically says that the defeat of German fascism was by the USA, while Germany pours into the heads of its new generation that the Second World War was fought because of the ambitions of two Hitler's (Hitler and Stalin).

These former Soviet republics now blow dirt on Moscow and threatening that they will not participate in the 60th Anniversary of the Victory over fascism!

Mr. Putin, you should not allow anyone to heap dirt, abuse and Ispread lies about Soviet History and your Soviet Motherland, that you swore as a member of the IKGB to defend!
