Policy Statement of Northstar Compass

The Canadian Friends of Soviet People and Northstar Compass condemn all forms of anti-Semitism as a vile expression intended to harm the Jewish people. Anti-Semites have no place in our ranks! We are continuing and will continue to honor and respect the sacrifices and contributions many Jews have given to the cause of socialism. The Jewish people have a long legacy of struggle for justice.

With this in mind, we deeply regret that a very few American Jewish comrades have decided to cease subscribing to NSC and abandoned their struggle for socialism, whatever their motivation might be. This is particularly painful since no other country in the world has done so much for the Jewish people as the Soviet Union did. The USSR has not only given 26,000,000 of it best sons and daughters to smash the anti-Semitic German Nazi regime, but it liberated Auschwitz. The Soviet Union was instrumental in the creation of the State of Israel and has taken a step further, by having created a Jewish Autonomous Region of Birobidzhan on its own territory.

We shall continue our support for the Jewish people and their right to live in peace within their borders. We believe that Israel’s right to exist is based on the UN resolution and not the bible, which is not a legal document. We are not alone when we say that Zionism is damaging the interests of the Jewish people, and many Jews and their Rabbis agree.

During the tenure of its existence, Israel has spent only 1/3 of its time existing within its legal borders and 2/3 of its time it was oppressing and occupying its neighbors. This has not been a simple administration of occupied lands, but a systematic practice of ethnic cleansing for the sole purpose of colonizing neighbors’ lands. As Friends of Soviet People and historical allies and protectors of the Jewish people since 1918 - when the "Hands Off Russia Committee" was formed, we abhor all forms of anti-Semitism. Zionists must take full responsibility for the proliferation of anti-Semitism and thus transforming the image of Jewish people from a victim to an oppressor, from progressive to reactionary.

Those con-artists who have deceived a large majority of Jewish people and led them away from socialism to imperialism have not performed a modern day exodus. They have committed treason.

Zionism is a reactionary political ideology, having nothing to do with Judaism. Zionism was condemned by the United Nations Organization as a "form of racism!"

We trust that the Jewish people will know and realize the difference.
