This Is a Pre-Congress Issue of NSC

Dear readers:

This issue of Northstar Compass contains extensive materials that will be subject to discussions and analyses at the Second World Congress which is being held this September 23-24-25, 2005 in Toronto, Canada, with delegates from four corners of the world, dedicated to plan the future path of the International Council as well as of the Northstar Compass journal.

We have eliminated some of the regular features of NSC in order to concentrate on articles that will ad depth to the discussions that will follow at the Congress.

The October issue will be devoted to the decisions made at the World Congress in full, so that most readers who were not able to be delegates to the Congress will read the full scope of discussions, debates and the adopted results, which will guide our work until the next Congress in two years time.

With a representative delegation of 10 from former USSR present, and close to 60 other delegates, the future cooperation and future plans that will be worked out between the Soviet (Russian) Society for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the International Council for Friendship and Solidarity with Soviet People will guide our expanded work during these very dangerous times for humanity.

All of the Congress materials are in English, Russian, French and Spanish, but, our interpreters will be on hand to translate on the spot during discussions and question and answers.

As you are aware that the Friendship House suffered extensive damage, caused by fire, smoke and water, which fire was set by arson on April 21 of this year. It is only now, three weeks before the opening of this Second World Congress that we were able to get the Friendship House in order.

At this time I would like to thank all those comrades and friends from all over the world who so generously donated finances in order to help defray some of the costs of the renovation. Your generously contributed $10,000 in total! Many sincere thanks from all of us.

The Editorial Board of NSC is asking every reader to try and get one new subscriber to NSC in the next few months, so that they would also be able to read the details of this very important World Congress – where the decision will be taken as to where will Northstar Compass be published, here in Canada or in Europe and, where will the International Council be located?
