Greetings from the Soviet Society of Friendship
Dear Comrades:
We extend our greetings to the International Council and to all readers of Northstar Compass on this 88th Anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution!
For the first timed since 1991, it is not celebrated as an official holiday in our country, but we marked it in the traditions of international class struggle, whatever the conditions are.

Here are just some photographs of the celebrations that took place in many cities across the country.
Over 10,000 members and supporters of Communist Parties held a rally in downtown Moscow to commemorate the 88th Anniversary. The slogans that were carried read: "A National Status to the Great October Holiday! "Lenin, October, Socialism!" – "November 7 was, is and will be the Holiday of People!", "State Television for the people and not for Bureaucracy!"
According to the press, such demonstrations were held all over the country. For the first time this November 7th is a working day for decades, according to President Putin’s Decree in 1996. He renamed this holiday as the "Day of Reconciliation and Accord."
Thousands of people and veterans marched with red flags in the Red Square, in spite of thousands of OMON police present.
