Reply to Oleg Shenin's Letter:
Dear Oleg Semionovitch,
We thank you for your letter of the 10th of November and we are glad that you received the documents of our second Congress in due form and took interest in them.
We agree with you that the work of our International Council for Friendship and Solidarity with Soviet People is part of the larger framework of the anti-imperialist movement, and also a support for the international communist movement, and we intend to continue our work in this spirit.
Furthermore we have read with great attention your warning to be careful in our choice of our partners in the Soviet Union, in order to maintain and enhance the prestige and quality of the contributions to the Northstar Compass journal. We will carefully take your recommendation into account.
The Second World Congress has indeed voted for a resolution, which proposes to organise in the countries of the CIS and the Baltic States sections of the Soviet Society for Friendship and Solidarity with Foreign countries. This resolution was proposed by Georgii I. Tikhonov and unanimously accepted by the congress. We are glad to hear that such important work in this direction has already been achieved and structures have already been built which guarantee the fulfilment of our endeavour.
We were not able to attend the International Meeting of Communist and Workers Parties in Athens. So we hope that other possibilities will arise, be it in Canada or in Russia, for personal meetings and detailed discussions of our common project.
Meanwhile we send you our warmest greetings for the Soviet people and will look forward to your highly esteemed contributions to the International Council and to the Northstar Compass journal.
JEF BOSSUYT
Member of the International Council
