International Council of Friendship and Solidarity with Soviet People
Dear Comrade Michael Lucas,
Thank you whole-heartedly for the documents from the Second World Congress of Friendship and Solidarity with the Soviet People you sent me. I reviewed them with great interest.
I agree with you in respect that it would benefit our common cause, if the International Council you lead made a step beyond a very important, yet no longer sufficient (at least due to linguistic barriers), educational work on the subject of the USSR. It would be important and beneficial if the International Council became part of the International communist movement and joined active fighters with imperialism and world Zionism.
Obviously, the International Council is not a party, but a social organization. However, we could discuss and easily agree upon various possible venues of its participation in the world revolutionary movement.
As a friend and comrade, I must warn you in the future to be more selective in your choice of partners from our country. Most of the people who have sent their documents and greetings to the Congress, the ones who advise you to "be vigilant while evaluating one or another "communist" party, to judge not according to their well-worded demagogical calls, but according to their actions", unfortunately, belong to a cult themselves. They have a long time ago lost any significance and influence on political processes they ever had. They always were and remain reluctant to unite. This is likely due to their "self-sufficiency." I am saying this because I had a chance to deal with them as far back as the 1990s and I had multiple opportunities to witness their indecency and irresponsibility.
You suggest "to start in every republic a "Soviet Society of Friendship and Solidarity with Foreign Countries" and to establish in Moscow a Coordination Council to regulate the activity of these societies." In this regard, I would like to let you know that as far back as 2004 the International Social Association "For the Soviet Union and for the Communist Party of the Union" (MOO SKPS) was formed, which on February 21, 2005 was officially registered in Minsk by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus. This Association has branches in almost all republics of the USSR. Its main foundational goal is "to facilitate by all possible means realization of the Agreement on creation of the Union state of Belarus and Russia, strengthening and development of the Union state and unite with them the other republics." I think your plans can be fulfilled via MOO SKPS.
No doubt, it would be the best for us to meet in person in order to talk about all this in detail. In the near future I am going to participate in the meeting of communist and workers’ parties in Athens November 18-20, 2005. I am looking forward to your suggestions.
With comradely greetings,
Oleg Shenin
Chairman of CPSU
