What Does Year 2006 Hold For Mankind?

The changes that have taken place in 2005 all over the world in struggles against US imperialism are a sign that even though US imperialism seems to be an all- powerful colossus in the world, with its mighty war machine and policies akin to Nazism in all of its aspects, yet, all over the world the growth of demonstrations, strikes, protests and struggles are growing in strength and in confidence.

Perfect examples are the heroic struggles in Iraq, Afghanistan, Far East, Latin America and even in the belly of the beast, USA itself, with strikes, protests against President Bush himself. Bush is now desperately trying to put on a brave show even though his popularity has plummeted to an all out low point of 35 percent.

The struggles in the former Soviet Union are on the rise, with strikes, ever-growing demonstrations, even though Western imperialism and the present regimes are fomenting strife, counter-revolutions, nationalism and ethnic wars inside the former Soviet republics.

There is an ever-growing movement amongst the people of Russia, Ukraine and Byelorussia for an economic, political and defensive union, against the threat of US imperialism. This necessary movement is gaining momentum, but it needs more concrete efforts by all the anti-regime parties, organizations and trade union organizations.

Year 2005 has been eventful for the International Council for Friendship and Solidarity with Soviet People. We had our Second World Congress which was very successful in spite of refusal by Canada visas to 15 registered delegates. There were 16 countries represented and the Soviet delegation was instrumental in undertaking to publish Northstar Compass in a Russian edition.

The newly elected Executive Committee of the International Council would certainly welcome the absolute need for all of the communist and socialist parties that now exist (and unfortunately are multiplying like mushrooms after the rain) at least to agree as to WHO ACTUALLY IS THE ENEMY in their struggles!

Reading each week scores of newspapers from former Soviet Union, the letters, the e-mails, the faxes – I cannot but wonder as to how President Putin’s regime keeps track of all of these parties and their publications?

Or the question might be better asked as to: "Who is it that finances some of these parties and publications? Which in fact are the real Marxist-Leninist parties?"

We as international friends of Soviet People would of course like to see UNITY in action, UNITY in understanding as to who is the enemy, UNITY in the struggles for the resurrection of the USSR and Socialism.

We as dedicated friends of Soviet people, already since 1918, when the Hands Off Russia Committees were established in many countries, are expressing the wishes of all delegates that were gathered at the Second World Congress. Our sincere dedication certainly should not be questioned!

We as friends of Soviet people wish all comrades success in your struggles for unity, for direction as to how to unite in resurrecting Socialism and the Soviet Union. Your struggles are our struggles also.

We all should struggle against the enemy of mankind, not only US imperialism, but its stooges, bootlickers and hidden enemies who hide their identity by using phrases, even quoting Marx-Engels, Lenin and now even quoting Stalin!
