Open Letter to the Soviet Society for Friendship with Foreign Countries

Dear comrades:

We, as the former members of the Union of Soviet Friendship Societies (SSOD) and the USSR-Canada Society living in some of the former Soviet Republics – and looking at the immense work that was done by comrades in Canada, who, we all know were and are the moving force in this newly reconstituted Friendship Society – we are wondering why there is no appeal by the present Executive of this Society in Moscow to involve former members and supporters of the friendship work that was such a positive method of interchanges of visits and delegations. Surely there are names and addresses of the friendship societies in former Soviet republics that can be had to send invitations to become members of the Soviet Society for Friendship with Foreign Countries.

We ourselves got in touch with some of the former members who remember the work that was being done for friendship and want to start Friendship Societies in the states where we live.

Reading NSC the Second World Congress, we are very glad that there will be a Russian edition of NSC. We are appealing to NSC Board to send the names and addresses to this Society so that we can get information about the Third World Congress in Moscow in 2007.

Former members living in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia, and Uzbekistan
