Burokjavicus Is Now Free!

By VLADIMIR PRONIN

On January 13 of this year, the 76 year-old Burokjavicus, a political prisoner jailed on trumped up charges for 20 long years was finally freed after a worldwide protest against the present Latvian regime.

I want to remind the readers of NSC that comrade Burokjavicus was kidnapped from Byelorussia by the conniving secret services of Byelorussian government of that time and the Latvian secret agents operating in Byelorussia. This communist hero refused to plead guilty and he stood his ground that he was innocent and rather faced a jail term than be a traitor.

The worldwide campaign was ongoing because the present Latvian fascist regime was planning new charges and there was a danger that he would be killed while in custody.

Remember that the head of the Latvian government is president Adamkus, a vicious anti-communist, who during World War II actively cooperated with the German Nazis occupiers. After the liberation of Latvia by the Soviet Red Army, he actively fought against this liberation and then ran away to the American side, where he was given asylum and awaited the right moment to make a comeback.

This world wide protest by communists and all progressive organizations had at long last gained the result of his freedom. The Latvian communists never gave up to struggle for his release and their dedication and bravery will go into the historical annals of history and of solidarity.

I will try to interview him soon and will write for NSC the results of that interview.

Really Disgusted!

By IRINA MALENKO

Recently I saw on BBC TV, on a children’s show called "Blue Peter" a bit on "How hard it was for British people to live in the 1940’s" The TV host put on a 1940s dress and hair style, commenting that it was very nice; then she learned how to dance the 1940s ballroom dances, then she was horrified to discover that people had to dig in their gardens to plant vegetables ( Oh, what a hard job that was) and she complained that during the war "child’s ration of chocolate for one day was too small" and "that it was hard to get bananas" (!!!). She ended up by saying "Oh, it was not so bad, except for digging in the garden."

Do these people not know that in Leningrad alone, thousands upon thousands of Soviet people, including children, died of starvation, exposure, disease and German fascist military action? Or do they know that over 25,000,000 Soviet people perished during the Second World War?

And now these people in the West are forcing the whole world to believe that it was they who "won the war", by re-writing the history!!!

Full Capitalism in Turkmenistan

This year has brought freedom to thousands upon thousands of Turkmenistan people – freedom to be unemployed. Tens of thousands have been dismissed this year alone from their jobs.

The President of Turkmenistan had ordered cuts and closures all across the country. Just in one power plant alone, over 5,000 workers were dismissed. This applies not only to industries, but to musical and art schools and hospitals as well.

There are no hospital cleaners in Dashoguz region – all of them have been dismissed. Now Doctors in all hospitals are compelled to employ hospital cleaners at their own expense: 5000 Manats a day to wash floors, or look after the patients - this is an example that is prevalent in all these hospitals – such "hospital cleaners" help to do injections to patients – meaning, they put down the dirty mop, then take a syringe and inject the patients! This is what is known as "democratic freedom".

The thousands of unemployed have to stand in line for days at some Labour Exchanges – but these exchanges are very short staffed and workers have to wait sometimes for days on end. Most of the unemployed are not registered.

The president of Turkmenistan officially states that the people of Turkmenistan are now living in the "Golden Century"

Russian Duma Blasts Georgia

From ITAR-TASS

Colonel General Viktor Zavarzin of the Duma Defence Committee said: "There is an impression that there are forces in Georgia that are directly interested in endless aggression, with clashes and confrontation with Russia and that fulfill their political ambitions and economic interests by means of creating tensions between our countries."

According to a member of the Russian Duma Security Committee, Gennady Gudkov also said: "The conduct of the Georgian president runs counter to international law."

Another Duma member, Akhmed Bilalov was more to the point when he stated: "I have to state that certain groups in Georgia profit greatly from the permanent building up of tensions between our countries, while certain international groups from the West are conniving these tensions."

COMMENT:

Why doesn’t Putin call a spade a spade and name US Imperialism that is wholly responsible and is funding these provocations?

Zyuganov Gave Away His Election Victory To Yeltsin In 1996!

From newspaper "VPERED" Minsk

It is ten years since there was held the Presidential lections in Russia, with Boris Yeltsin and Gennady Zyuganov as candidates for the presidency, after the collapse of the USSR in 1991.

The following episode clearly says, and this is from the mouth of the last First Secretary of the CC Communist Party of the Russian Federation V.S Kupcov. This took place in 1998 in Bryansk, where in the central administrative building, full of correspondents and TV cameras, Kupcov answered written questions very clearly. I was there. since I was invited as a member of the Bryansk CP.

One question that was given to him to answer was like a bombshell after he read it. The audience became deathly still and awaited his answer, since he was part of Zyuganov’s election team. The question was – "How was it possible that Zyuganov, who won the Russian election for president, and it was an actual known fact by the election authority in 1996, went on to "congratulate Boris Yeltsin on his victory?"

Everyone looked at Kupcov, the right-hand man of Zyuganov, as to what will be his answer. He wiped his head of sweat, drank a glass of water ad sad: "What would you have done in his place? Yeltsin had the army, militia and power!"

That means that the CPRF leadership knew as we all knew that Zyuganov won the election. Why did Zyuganov and the CPRF not call upon the millions of people that voted for Zyuganov to come out into the streets? There were countless millions on Zyuganov’s side waiting for the call to action, as opposed to the Boris Yeltsin’s apparatus of thousands?

This was nothing but sheer opportunism and a social-democratic sell out. Thus an opportunity was missed to resurrect the Soviet Union and Socialism!
