Where Is the Outcry From the Soviet People About This?
![]() |
| This world-recognized sculpture represents not only the workers and peasants in the Soviet Union, but the aspirations and future of the working class of the whole world. It was a symbol of hope in the struggles for Socialism! It should not be exploited by the bourgeoisie for its profits as a commercial entity! |
One of the most famous sculptures in the world, that was exhibited in Paris in 1937 - depicting a worker holding a raised hammer and a farm girl clutching a sickle – a recognized world symbol of Socialism – was cut up into 17 pieces in 2003 already, as it was standing at the entrance to the famous USSR Exhibition of Economic Achievements. Since that time it has languished in warehouses, timetable set to restore it went by, money assigned to it for restoration was spent – and no one knows where.
Now it will be placed, of all places, on top of a privately owned commercial theatre in Moscow – high and practically out of view by the public on the streets. This famous sculpture was designed by Vera Mukhina, she was awarded the Stalin Medal for this masterpiece.
According to the British newspaper, "The Independent", it seems to take great pleasure and is gloating over the fact that this beautiful and magnificent monument "Rabochy i Kolkhoznitsa", honouring the struggles and triumphs of Soviet and world-wide working class, is now to be exploited and serve a commercial enterprise!
The following comment was written by Mart who has an Internet site, says it more beautifully than the Editor of NSC can do!
"All I can say is ‘gloat well, dear capitalists…while you can still gloat…and while you are still able to draw breath! Ponder well the words of the "Internationale", the anthem of the worldwide working class – "we have been naught… we shall be all!" and "The international working class…shall be the human race!"
Not just words…but rather, a solemn promise, both of, and to the oppressed, and a magnificent, powerful and beautiful warning to the oppressor class! We "will" be back and we "won’t" forget!
Yes, where is this outcry from the working class? This monument is part of UNESCO’s heritage sites to be preserved for all the future generations!
