Reply to the Pre-Election Lies in Ukraine

By VLADIMIR PRONIN

The large and loud batteries of pre-election promises have sounded all across the country for the people’s votes, but they will be forgotten until the next election, all the pay-offs and their sweet promises. Now is the rude awakening by the people of the enormous election expenses that have to be paid and the rude realization of how the people were robbed again!

It is uncanny how one bourgeois Ukrainian politician, appearing on Ukrainian TV said: "Thank God that these election campaigns, one after another are finished – now its time to tell the people finally the truth!" The truth is that after the election, most of these elected representatives will again follow the dictates of the ruling class and not allow the demands of the working class to be met, until it comes again to the promises that will be made in time for the next election campaign.

Of course, this is the truth, unless the working class will start demanding and demonstrating for their rights. This is also the truth that the present regime in the Ukraine will never retreat and give in to the demands of the working class. On the contrary, they will hide all of these protests, these demands under a security curtain of disinformation in the daily media, and hire the highly paid psychologists, lawyers, public relations experts, capitalist oriented economists, and journalists to fill the press and the airways with their lies and subterfuge.

The attacks on peoples’ rights, the economic stagnation, the cultural degradation was pushed through with massive lies and propaganda that said, that these are necessary to make life better for the Ukrainian people. This is now a reality that instead of making life better, there is an enormous rise in costs for electricity, communal services and transportation. And, the present regime is not even hiding the fact that this is only the start – the future increases will be even higher and even more devastating. This very rude awakening of course started the whole process of united struggles, demonstrations and protests

The growth of the forces in the struggle was so noticeable that the people were no longer fooled by the present revisionist trade union the "Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine." This Federation might even lose whatever authority it had amongst the working class, since they are collaborationists with the present regime in the Ukraine.

The first very large demonstration of the working people took place on May 24 of this year - on this same Square where not too long ago the "Orange Revolution" was gathered, amongst whose members were duped members of the Ukraine’s working class.

On this Square thousands upon thousands of Ukrainian people now gathered, who did not support Yushenko who for the last six months lost any semblance of support or authority he had. Instead, there were signs, Red flags, Soviet flags and signs demanding: "No rise in prices!", "How long must we be exploited?" The people are awakening all across Ukraine. The Communists organized this demonstration and guided it towards the demands against the present regime.

It was also an eye opener for the working class, the difference between the state-supported so-called "Federation of Trade Unions" and the rank and file local trade unions who demanded that there should be called soon a General Strike against the present regime of Ukraine!

To muddy the waters still more, this trade union federation tried to hoodwink the people with promise that they will take this case to the International Court of Justice!!!

As is always the case, these traitors to the working class, try everything possible to defuse the working class militancy and solidarity. Therefore, in front of all the Communists in the Ukraine, having suffered a defeat at the last parliamentary elections, there is now a golden opportunity to take the lead and again show their leadership and authority in this struggle!

Future demonstrations and actions are already planned and had taken place last June 21 and June 26 in Kiev.
