Geriatric Tourism Only

The time of free recreation that we had in Czechoslovakia are long time gone. Gone are the free children’s camps, health spas, vacations on the sea or mountain resorts, they are gone to the wealthy few, while the working man dares not protest. He keeps his mouth shut, has to work through weekends, holidays and vacations – if he is lucky enough to have a job.

But do not despair. For the poor, disadvantaged, crippled and elderly who had built this country before, the present bourgeois had invented a new kind of recreation. Time from time people find some coupons in their mailbox, inviting them on a trip to see some overpriced "miracle products", usually miracle pots and pans, miracle magnetic belts, inserts or inferior cosmetics and cleaners. For the people that get sucked into this scam, they have to pay $4-10 and listen to this lecture-sales pitch, for about 4 hours.

When this presentation is over of all the "miracle products", all the geriatric company is invited to "lunch" consisting of a handful of rice, two tablespoons of vegetables. The show is over, their "holiday" is over and the elderly people go home and closer to death.

Yes, in this capitalist Slovakia, this is called Geriatric Tourism.
