Declaration on Bulgarian Membership in European Union

Dear comrades, workers, peasants and students!

On January 1, 2007 capitalist Bulgaria officially joined the European Union (EU). The euphoria, generously financed by the local and western bourgeoisie is so huge as if we were all entering not an imperialist union, but heaven itself.

The Bulgarian Resistance Movement September 23^rd is far away from this euphoric mood.

We look at EU as one of the biggest world imperialist unions. For more than half a century the EU has oppressed heir own people through:

• hounding revolutionaries
• passing anti-people laws
• favouring unemployment, drug addiction, prostitution
• openly preaching anti-communism
• globalization and militarism.

The European Union keeps oppressing a range of people out of the EU by mercilessly robbing their human and their material resources. That’s why we oppose EU – one of the most reactionary bourgeois unions in the word.

Paraphrasing the popular words of Georgi Dimitrov, we state: "We don’t want either the honey of the EU (the right or the possibility for Bulgaria to exploit developing countries out of the frame of EU) or the sting of EU (the Bulgarian membership as an equal country of neo-colonial type with restricted sovereignty).

To this imperialist EU, based on private property, inequality and anti-communism, to which we are being pushed by our own criminally born Bulgarian capitalists, we propose our own Communist ideal: world union of peoples based on the public ownership of all the means of production, based on brotherhood and equality amongst them, and independence of all countries.

We will keep on fighting and struggling for our ideal as we have been doing. We know that we will not be alone in this struggle, because the Communist and Anti-Imperialist movements and organizations are gathering strength in Europe and in the whole world. Side by side with them we will struggle until the conclusive victory of Communism all over the world.
