Statement by the League of Communist Youth of Yugoslavia

League of Communist Youth of Yugoslavia, a part of the New Communist Party of Yugoslavia will not take part in the next parliamentary elections in Serbia, which are held on the base of a law, that directly smashes the fundamental democratic principles and norms and was formulated in line with criteria of the bourgeois parties, which only want to prolong and extend their powers.

We carried on wide discussions for the creation of a Leftist Front, as the only viable solution in the fight against the block of injustice that is power, and as the only viable solution for the creation of a truly popular and democratic government. We have carried out this dialogue in the interests of the working people, which are asking for these changes.

The behaviour of some of these "opposition" parties is not surprising. Some of these clearly right-wing parties adopt Social-Communist programs for merely demagogic reasons – but they boast that they are anti-communist. In previous elections the so-called "left opposition" party behaved like a truly cooperating "opposition", collateral to the regime.

These parties are forcing us into the peoples’ prison which is called the "European Union", but only their mentors have cause to be happy - the multinational corporations and their rich tycoons. This is clearly demonstrated by fewer and fewer people in supporting this race into the EU.

NKPJ and SKOJ remain committed to an open and unitary fight of all progressive forces, and for a new socialist perspective for our country.
