News From Former USSR
Ukrainian Left Moves to Prevent NATO Subversion
KIEV: Ukraine’s Communists blasted a US Congress decision last month to support the country’s NATO bid as meddling in the internal affairs of Ukraine and demanded that a referendum be held on potential membership in NATO. US Congress wants that Ukraine and Georgia join NATO plus other former Soviet republics.
The Communists and other left parties are protesting and holding meetings and large protests and demanding to stop this mad rush into NATO.
Opinion polls show that Ukraine’s population is opposed to the idea of NATO membership. The arrival of NATO’s troops in Crimea last June had sparked a wave of very significant protests by the people.
The US stooge, President Yushchenko had set membership in NATO as his key foreign policy since coming to power in 2005. This policy has encountered opposition from his Prime Minister Yanukovych, whose supporters dominate the Ukrainian parliament and the cabinet also – and they have succeeded to curtail many of the presidential powers.
Washington is not giving up on its expansion of NATO and is doing everything inside of Albania, Croatia and Macedonia to allocate very large sums of money for subverting the country and to get them into their power inside of NATO and thus completely surround the former USSR and the present day Russia.
When is the present Russian regime going to take notice?

Armenian President Is Dead – What Now?
By JERRY MORSE
President of Armenia died at age of 55, so what can we expect now? A big push by US-NATO to establish bases and radar "settlements" in the heart of the Caucasus! But US imperialism has to come up with a new "colour revolution" – maybe Green as the Green $$$ bills that have been flowing into Armenia?
If the upcoming planned "green revolution" takes place in Armenia, now the White House has to come up with another colour for the "colour revolution" in Iran.
We wonder as to where the horse and the rider in the central square off Yerevan will take off fast? It would not be towards Turkey – since then the colour would certainly be "Red Revolution"
FROM KIEV
UKRAINE
Dear Editor of NSC:
You might be interested to know about what I read on my computer’s Internet while browsing through news items. One news item that caught my eye was – the Report by Forbes Magazine about how many millionaires and billionaires there are now in Ukraine, besides Russia.
As a long-time member of the former USSR-Canada Society and a reader of Northstar Compass, I keep asking myself this burning question, since I knew some of these crooks, now traitors – How did these former Communists and Komsomols become billionaires?
The answer is very simple, though unforgivable – these people were never communists or Komsomols – they were opportunists and traitors hiding inside the party and, now they showed their true colours for all to see.
Yes, we true Communists should have been more vigilant, more astute and exposed these criminals as did Lenin and Stalin in their time.
Forbes Magazine, the US based business magazine listed seven Ukrainian billionaires for year 2007. Just to mention one of the seven here, Rinat Akhmetov has over $5 billions and is one of the richest men in Ukraine.
There are now 19 Russian billionaires (new Russians!) and 7 Ukrainian billionaires.
Mostly all former leaders of the Soviet Union have become traitors and sold-out artists – including President Putin, who, of all people, was a Young Pioneer member, a Komsomol member and a member of the CPSU and a trusted KGB member, whose sacred vow to defend the Motherland was obviously just a farce.
Their time will come. Even though some people might agree with these traitors, but history has shown always that nobody trusts a traitor!

We Hate USA & NATO!

That, which in 1991 belonged to the USSR, now in 2001 in full was taken over by US and its allies. The Yanks privatized the whole of former Soviet Union. The countries in NATO are occupying strategic positions surrounding Russia.
The White House is in a great hurry to build NATO bases on the territory of Poland, Czech Republic, Azerbaijan, Armenia…US sees its goal also of having bases on the territory of Georgia and thus surrounding Russia. The Caucasian Mountains now belong to NATO – "now it will be easier to look into Russia directly" – this was the cynical remark by one of the top US Senators in Washington.
In Ukraine itself there are now massive attacks on those who dare to demonstrate against NATO plans for Ukraine. In all regions across Ukraine NATO has already opened up – with well-paid staffs – their "Information Centres" and spending on these Information Centres over $17,000 monthly. According to figures released now in Washington, NATO has already spent $50,000,000 in order to misinform, misdirect, sow lies and confusion amongst the people, and bribe the present Ukraine’s regime.
The people of Ukraine are categorically against our country to be pulled into the NATO web and its aggressive bloc of vassals. Here is what the Ukrainian Cosmonaut Leonid Kadeniuk, Hero of Ukraine said: "Those that line up to join NATO, that is their problem. We must be neutral, not part of the NATO Bloc – this will guarantee Ukraine stability. The main thing is by being neutral we shall have political stability, economic growth and a peaceful life for our people."
All across Ukraine there are demonstrations, protests, collection of signatures to demand a Referendum on this vital question for the people and to tell…
NO! intervention in Ukraine by NATO!
NO! American bases in Ukraine!
Neutrality for Ukraine – YES!

| The demonstrations and pickets are by youth, workers, Communists and also by mothers and grandmothers, including those that carry religious symbols during these protests. This photo was taken in front of the U.S. Embassy in Kiev. |
