Where Does Vietnam Stand Now?

When President Chavez of Venezuela visited Vietnam last year, there was much hype in the world press as to how Chavez’s speeches were all, anti-imperialist, anti NATO and anti Bush. One thing now is very clear that the Vietnamese side, which says it is Socialist and being led by the Communist Party of Vietnam, was very quite and very embarrassed by Chavez’s very forward style – calling imperialism "pre-animal"? Why was the Vietnamese side so quite? Did they not agree with Chavez?

The truth came out from the New York Times: "Vietnam is waiting approval by the US government to give it "normal trade status" and to get the nod from US imperialism in Vietnam’s bid to join the World Trade Organization".

The WTO is the child of US imperialism and is the controlling key over all countries that belong to it.

If only Ho Chi Min would be alive today – Vietnam would and could play a role as Cuba and Venezuela are playing now in this world, standing up to US imperialism!
