Letter from Helen Lucas

Dear friends:

It is hardly ever that I write to you my thoughts in a letter – you mostly hear from me with a few words to let you know that your subscription has expired to NSC – and sending you a receipt or a thank you note for extra donation.

This letter is a direct APPEAL TO YOU dear reader and friend – in all seriousness that I as the Financial Secretary can muster in these few words.

Our $30,000 Financial Appeal to help sustain Northstar Compass this year of 2007 – the 90^th Anniversary of the Great October Revolution and the Victory Day over fascism on this day in 1945 – is not going as well as we had expected to date. We have only raised nearly $7,800 of our $30,000. As you know, we have an English Edition, a French Edition, a Russian Edition, and now there is a definite possibility of having a Spanish Edition of NSC to be published by our friends in Chile.

We are helping and are going to help these editions by the finances that we will collect. We cannot, as we did for the last 15 years depend on the great generosity and patriotism to Socialism and the USSR that was and is shown by the Society of Carpatho-Russian Canadians in whose Friendship House we are situated here in Toronto.

Unless we reach the $30,000 NSC FINANCIAL CAMPAIGN QUOTA - there is a very real possibility that we shall not be able to sustain and keep on publishing NSC. The 16^th Anniversary of NSC is coming up in September of this year – 16 years of hard and dedicated work by our volunteer comrades!

I thank all those that have given to this NSC campaign – but we need to fulfill our $30,000!
