Israeli Interrogation Methods Are State Terror

By MICHAEL OPPERSKALSKI

For many years the Israeli human rights organizations have been revealing the aggressive methods the SHABAK, Israeli Security System interrogators who are being used against the Palestinian detainees.

B’TSELSM, the Israeli Information Centre for Human Rights in the occupied territories and HaMoked, the Centre for the Defence of the Individual, issued a report confirming that the Shabak is still using illegal interrogation methods against the Palestinians. These are considered by the UN as war crimes and include – isolation from the outside world – no lawyers are allowed – no Red Cross – jailed for very long periods- psychological torture and physical pressure – solitary confinement – lack of exercise – sleep and food deprivation – shackling of inmates to their chairs – swearing – beatings, – nude searches of private parts – more threats of more torture - threats of arrest of their family members.

The Israeli law system is the only one in the world that allows the use of organized torture and interrogating methods against the Palestinian detainees.

The International Community (the UN) never intervened to halt these crimes that are against International Laws, Terms and Resolutions that forbid torture.

The Israeli human rights organizations call upon international society, institutions and NGOs to sentence those cruel and inhuman Israeli security members, who are responsible for such crimes. Why doesn’t the International Court of Justice play a more serious role in this crime? Pressure must be put on Israel to stop these crimes against the Palestinian detainees and the immediate release of thousands of Palestinian detainees.
