Conference of the Soviet Society for Friendship with Peoples of Foreign Countries

On June 2, 2007 in Moscow, there took place a successful Conference in the Conference Hall of the Society "Sojuz". At the Conference there were 15 delegates from across the country, plus collective members and observers that gathered for this Conference. Taking part as guests were the Secretary of the Russian Communist Workers Party-RPK and the Editor-in-Chief of the Russian newspaper Mysl, Natalia Glagoleva.

The Conference Report was given by Vladimir Chechentsev, Chairman of the Coordinating Committee for the period of 2005-2007, and on behalf of the Control Commission by V.I. Gurevich.

After these reports were given, there took place a lively discussion by the delegates.

The Conference adopted these reports with thanks for the work well done. In the discussion that took place, all the delegates agreed with the position that was taken by the International Council for Friendship and Solidarity with Soviet People, regarding the Third World Congress that was to be held in Moscow in 2007.

The election of a new Executive Committee was held and 12 comrades were elected into the Coordinating Committee of the Soviet Friendship Society. Comrades Chechentsev was elected as Chairman, Viktor Bourenkov and A. Prigarin as Vice Chairmen.

Greetings were read from the International Council for Friendship and Solidarity with Soviet People and on behalf of the Editorial Board of Northstar Compass over the signature of Michael Lucas, Chairman and Editor.

Greetings were sent by the Australian-Soviet Friendship Society, Ray Berbling – Editorial Board of magazine Dialog of Czech Republic, – Zdenek Novotny and Yaroslav Weber- Socialist Party of Bangladesh, – Khalequzzaman – Marxist-Leninist Communist Party of Turkey/ Northern Kurdistan - Editorial Board of journal Revolutionary Democracy, India, Vijay Singh.

These greetings were accepted by a standing ovation by all the delegates and observers.

The delegates and observers were then entertained with a concert by performers from the Society Sojuz, poetess Liudmila Turovska and the author Anatoly Belyaev.
