Dear comrades:
The situation here in the opposition movements to the present regime’s policies is disunited and deplorable. The so-called “patriots” have turned themselves now into Russian nationalists, and into this category, we can count even high-ranking military officers, who are now demanding the convening of an Emergency Meeting, the same demand as was overthrown in 1917.
Why are they demanding this Extraordinary Meeting? As in 1917, the brother of Nicholas II, Michael, did not abandon his aim to succeed the Czar, and now in Russia the thinking of some Kremlin stooges is that this new call for Extraordinary Meeting will soon unanimously elect him as the new Czar.
History seems to try and repeat itself in the forthcoming Russia’s Presidential Election to take place in 2008 or 2009.
Now, these present “patriots” in Russia like Prohanov, Ivashov, Zaderey–the editor of “Znanie-Vlast” and other pro-Kremlin hangers-on are organizing an Extraordinary Meeting in order to elect again this present Czar (Putin). On the daily TV programs there are now even demands that the former Russian servant-slave laws be enacted again as they were during the Czar’s time.
Last month in the centre of Moscow there was a large struggle organized and sponsored by the present regime - by an organization of young people, called “ Against illegal immigration into Russia” and against Uzbeks in particular, that come into Russia. Heading this group is a Zionist, and it is a fact, that this movement is supported by Israel and its policy of starting racist attacks against anyone that is a Muslim, who came into Russia from former Soviet Republics because of the terrible economic conditions there now. The idea is to inflame racial strife between Russia and the former Muslim Republics which encircle Russia from the South.
Provocations and fights amongst this demonstration was started by elements put in there for the purpose of eliminating the growing Russian anti -US imperialist feelings and demonstrations and, to turn them into racial strife amongst the former Soviet Republics, splitting families as well as family kin, and thus divide and rule. The present regime is heaping praise on these Russian young people just because they are Russian, and also urging them to attack and even kill all other nationalities that they now deem as foreigners.
In a situation such as this, our newspaper “FOR USSR” is a must, even though I do not get any financial help from anywhere, even from the present leftwing movements here, they do not help. Somehow people like to read newspapers that defend private property and against private property, for socialism and against socialism, for Michael Lucas and NSC and against Michael Lucas and Northstar Compass!
What can be done against such unrealistic, uncultured and their political stance and understanding? These elements are only concerned how to get a cushy job, how to try to get elected into the Russian Duma, or if they cannot get elected themselves, how to get their sons into the Duma! The others must just work to support these opportunistic ambitions of most of these present leaders of the left-wing parties!
June in Moscow was very cold, no finances to go on a holiday. The prices of food are sky-high and I cannot live on the subscriptions to the newspaper.
I wish you Michael and the comrades good health and many more years of fruitful work. You and your comrades, like no one else in the world, are gathering the healthy left-wing forces together in this world into this extremely important International Council for Friendship and Solidarity with Soviet People and its great printed organ, Northstar Compass.
Without you comrades, there will not take place any unity movement! For this work we are thankful and very appreciative.
All the best to you comrades! Oh, how I would like to again visit Toronto and the Friendship House, and also to immerse myself into your wonderful library of Soviet books, both in Russian and English. Books like you comrades have in your library, you cannot find them anyplace now in Moscow! They were done away with and burnt.
