May Day - Victory Day Celebration in Mineralny Vody

By Vladimir Shkarupa, Secretary of the AUCPB - Russia

Demonstrations, meetings and pickets like these are happening in practically all of the former Soviet Republics, but Russia's media does not report on any of them in the daily press or TV.

It is already 15 years that we Communists held May 1st Meetings near the monument to V.I. Lenin. But the administration of Mineralny Vody for the last two years had put blocks in our attempts to hold meeting and to demonstrate – the excuse was that another demonstration of “workers collective” (that we never ever heard of here) is holding a meeting and we were barred from holding our event near the V.I. Lenin monument. This Mineralny Vody anti-Soviet administration and their so-called “workers collective” was reviewed from the Lenin monument, pretending that they are the same Soviets as they were during Soviet times.

They demanded that the AUCPB march at the end of all columns. We replied that shall not march together with the sheep!

We stood our ground, unfurled our red flags and banners, portraits of Stalin – Banners read: “Our Home-USSR!”- May 1 – International Solidarity”, “Only a revolution will save Russia!”

On May 9th, Day of Victory we also stood our ground with banners to “Glory to Marshal Stalin” - For Stalin! For Motherland!”

We ignored the demands of the police to take our banners down and stop the Soviet flag from flying high. We all stood firm and the police could not provoke us and they had to go away from us.
