Days of Russia and Kazakhstan

Canadian Friends of Soviet People and NSC Celebrated Day of Russia & Kazakhstan in Style

The celebration was held on Sunday, September 30, 2007 at the Friendship House on Queen Street in Toronto.

This celebration was very well planned and the members and friends who attended enjoyed the day of history, video presentation about Russia and Kazakhstan, plus the photo exhibit on Russia and Kazakhstan that were displayed on the walls of the Carpathian Room.

Kosta Parousis, vice chairman of the Toronto Branch of the CFSP opened the proceedings and there followed the guest from Kazakhstan who explained as to what the Soviet Union and Socialism did for the development of Kazakhstan and how things stand at the present moment. He also spoke about Russia and its importance to the other former Soviet Union Republics.

There followed the raffle of prizes that excited the audience.  After that was over, everyone enjoyed a great buffet and drinks, plus many toasts to the friendship between Canada and the Soviet people. A young enthusiast, Christina Vagalati proposed a toast to peace and will take part in future events.

Then Kosta Parousis, George Lubvin and Valeri Kovalenko gave a singing performance of songs and music which the audience took to heart and many joined the dancing enthusiasts.

People gathered around the display of NSC journal and picked up newspapers, books and journals that were on display. Many young people want to attend future events like this one.

After another toast to peace and friendship, the event ended with the playing and singing of the International and the anthem of Canada.
