The 62nd Anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz Camp

Eight days after I was wounded by SS shrapnel on January 19, 1945 a Soviet Jewish Red Army Commander, Anatoly Shapiro was the first to lead his Soviet troops into and to liberate the infamous Nazi death camp of Auschwitz.

 

Will US Dick Cheney representing the US at the Memorial ceremony, once again told everyone that “evil is real and must be confronted”? A very sick joke from the Abu-Graib to Guatanamo, while US is supporting crimes against humanity by Israel against the Palestinians, while the Israel President, Moishe Katsav praises the Western Allies that helped the Jews to ”come out of the ashes to their Jewish homeland” What about the Zionist slogan of “ A land without people for a people without a land.”

 

Meanwhile President Vladimir Putin reminds us that there were other victims of the Holocaust than Jewish victims…there were over 27,000,000 Soviet lives lost, while the US suffered about 1% of total casualties. But Mr. Putin avoided to mention that it was the Communists who led the struggle against German fascism, but now Putin wants to ”exile them from history.” The Communists were a very vital part of the anti-fascist struggles all over the world (which started with aid and volunteers to Loyalist Spain) both as victims and as providing the vital leadership to the Partisans and the underground Resistance Movements in France, Yugoslavia, Albania, Greece, Italy and also the heroic fighters inside Nazi Germany itself.

 

While in the Federal Republic of Germany at the time of Reunification, we all saw the dismantling of the anti-fascist Museums in the former German Democratic Republic (East Germany) as the West was very busy singing the praises of pro-fascist supporters like USA’s John Foster Dulles. Ernst Thaelmann, leader of the German Communist Party was executed by the Nazis in August of 1944, 8 months prior to the liberation of the Buchenwald Camp. Eric Honecker the leader of GDR was a survivor of this death camp.

 

Those that have now turned anti-communism into practically an official religion, have turned anti-Nazism as if it was only aimed exclusively against the Jews themselves – having purposely turned that Nazism was strictly a movement against the Jews, and thus they stripped of its anti-communist, anti-socialist, anti-Gypsy and anti-trade union content.

 

Anti-fascism encompasses more than being opposed to anti-Semitism. Can the world imagine what the Holocaust might have been like if the Soviet Red Army did not drive the German forces back to Germany and defeated them?

 

Let us remember the Rev. Martin Niemoller’s famous lines: “First they came for the Communists and I didn’t speak up because I was not a Communist” and then down the line the Jews, Catholics and then they came for him, it was too late “there was no one left to speak up for me.”

 

As Norman Finkelstein in his book “Holocaust Industry” points out that the “Organized American Zionists have exploited the Nazi Holocaust (but there were others, like brutal Slavery) in order to deflect Israel’s morally indefensible policies.” So that in the name of the Holocaust, the Israel Government justifies atrocities, expulsion and ethnic cleansing, using the West Bank and Gaza, with house demolitions, checkpoints or obstacles to prevent getting an ambulance or for the Palestinians to get to work.

 

Atrocities are not limited to “Greater Israel”. The Israel’s Mossad is working with the CIA, the present Russian Secret Service, it trains, together with the CIA the Latin American Death Squads, helps to overthrow governments and commits other crimes against humanity. It’s the chief ally of US imperialism.

 

Oh yes, none of the speakers at this Memorial Ceremony addressed the very important  question as to how this Nazi Monster and the Third Reich came into power, and whose support was behind them. That would have exposed the outright complicity of the German Krup and Thyssen monopolies and the US industrial monopolies like the IBM and GE – who in actual fact built up the German Nazi war machine at a very nice profit!
