Words Spoken From the Cuban Heart
From
the “Reflections by the Cuban Commander in Chief Fidel Castro”
we reprint these words
about the collapse of the Soviet Union.
“The demise of the Soviet Union was to us like there were no more sunrises, a devastation blow to the Cuban Revolution. Not only did this translate into a total cessation of supplies of fuel, materials and foods, we lost markets and the prices that we had attained for our products in the difficult struggle for our sovereignty and integration of principles. The empire and the traitors, full of hatred, were sharpening their daggers with all those who wanted to put the revolutionaries to the sword and thus receive the country’s riches.
Out Gross Domestic Product plummeted to 35 per cent. What country could have withstood such a terrible blow? We were not defending our lives, but we were defending our rights.
Many leftwing parties and organizations became discouraged in the wake of the collapse of the USSR, after its titanic effort to build Socialism during the course of more than 70 years.
The world reactionaries’ criticisms coming from all platforms and the mass media were ferocious. But Cuba did not add its voices to the chorus of criticism and apologists. Not one statue to the creators or followers of Marxism was demolished in Cuba. Not one school or factory or street had its name changed. We decided to press ahead with unchangeable steadiness. That was what we had promised to do under such hypothetical and unbelievable circumstances”.
COMMENT:
These words are certainly from the heart of Fidel Castro – and truth was spoken by the head of Cuba who are just a stone-throw from US Imperialism’s doorstep.
NSC is being criticized by a few readers who think that President Putin should not be criticized because- “He is making Russia strong.” No comrades, Putin is making the Russian Zionist Oligarchs and multimillionaires very strong by selling off all the natural resources of Russia, not for the betterment of the Russian people.
Oh
yes, did Mr. Putin take just one tiny step to rename the streets or the
cites and squares to
the names that the Soviet People gave them? Why is there no Lenin grad?
Why is there no
Stalingrad?
