Female Smokers Double in Russia

Since the collapse of the Soviet Union and the billions spent by Western tobacco firms in advertising, the increase of women smoking rose by over 15%. The researchers were monitoring 7000 women for 11 years and released these findings.

Western tobacco companies invested heavily in developing this market, promoting smoking as part of the new “Western lifestyle.”

This report by the English Bath University, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicines stated that Western advertising campaigns on behalf of the Philip Morris, British American Tobacco became so rampant that by mid 1990‘s it was estimated that moiré than half of the Moscow billboards and more than 75% of plastic shopping bags in the whole country carried tobacco advertising.

Dr. Anna Gilmore of this research team stated: “There can be no doubt that the constant marketing infusion by these Western tobacco disaster for Russia,”

As well as the increase in female smokers, the number of men smoking rose from 57% in 1992 to over 63% in 2003 and rising each year. But in the United Kingdom the number of smokers has been declining for decades.

The above mentioned tobacco companies refused to be interviewed, just stated :“Russian disposable income has grown…”

Russian Military Chief Gives a Warning to West

MOSCOW – To protect its national security, Russia feels entitled to use any methods, including nuclear weapons, said Russian Ch of Staff, General Yury Baluyevsky.

“We are not going to attack anyone, but we believe all our partners in the international community should understand clearly and have no doubts that, in order to protects its and allies’ sovereignty and territorial integrity, Russia will use its armed forces, including nuclear weapons, and it can do it preemptively”, the General said at a scientific conference in Moscow last month.

Russia has resumed strategic bomber patrol flight over the Pacific, Atlantic and Arctic Oceans and last year it imposed a unilateral moratorium on the Conventional Foes in Europe Treaty, a key arms reduction pact.

In the US Court in California – case # CR 00-0284 MJJ – the former Premier-Minister of Ukraine Pavel Lazarenko, Julia Tymoshenko, the present Premier of Ukraine is charged also, together with Lazarenko in money manipulation.

This crook, as vice-premier before in Ukraine in charge of the Energy Ministry and the corporation EUSY, gathered under her control $149 millions, and deposited it in Cyprus company Somolii Enterprises.

Pavel Lazarenko is in the US now while his helper Tymoshenko left the USA, refusing to defend herself in this scandal, while Lazarenko sits in jail. She also does not pay any attention to the exposé of the court action by the California court, which was published in Ukraine in both Russian and English.

But when a Special Commission of present Ukrainian Parliament started investigating shady financial dealings, Julia Tymoshenko organized to dissolve the Ukrainian parliament on the question of this gas-oil financial manipulation. She appealed to the Zionist Lobby in Russia, headed by magnate Berezovski – who was responsible to get this Zionist Julia Tymoshenko elected. She met with the top body of the Federation of Jewish Societies, Lev Levaevy, to get his help, which she received.

This Lev arranged a meeting for Tymoshenko to visit the US where she stated outright her anti-Russianism, as Boris Berezovski recommended. She also gave an interview to the US Foreign Affairs journal in which she called Russia “the top aggressor country in the word.”

Julia Tymoshenko also made a visit to Israel and to England. She was hosted by US Condoleezza Rice, Madeleine Albright, Margaret Thatcher, Simon Perez. She received support from the EU and Washington in her attempts to bring Ukraine into NATO. Her money laundering did not even enter into conversation, since she is the willing tool of Washington.

Now this madam Tymoshenko can go ahead in conflict with Russia since she has the Zionists in the US and Europe behind her. Her celebration of the OUN-UPA and the so-called “Russian starvation of Ukrainians during 1930s“ – no one is interested in prosecuting Tymoshenko – first things first on their agenda.

Julia Tymoshenko, the Premier of Ukraine, is a symbol of corruption, the most rabid opportunist. She should be tried by Interpol!

She is the Number 1 Lady for Bush, Sarkazy and Sakaashvili – but for us the citizens of Ukraine – she is a thief in the Premier’s Seat.

These dates are very important and were celebrated under very contradictory circumstances. This campaign was well thought out and carried out as a “psychological war” and with enormous amount of money being allotted and spent for constant brainwashing of the people. With the media and technology in their hands, the Imperialists and their lackeys inside former Socialist countries were able to temporarily to take over the countries and to do the bidding of their masters.

The time of the existence of the USSR and of the number of People’s Democracies was the period that saw the weakening and the disintegration of colonial exploitation. This was the time that people realized that there is an alternative to capitalism – Socialism. These were days of progress, peace and rising living standards.

It is by no means difficult to see and judge the aftermath of the disintegration of the USSR and other socialist countries and being replaced by the present day New Word Order, wars, genocide and economic chaos.

Let us remember that the years before WW II, the same attempts and terminology was used by Imperialism and which started World War II and its tragic loss of millions of lives.

Are we heading towards the same scenario? Is history trying to repeat itself?

But at that time there existed the USSR as a bastion standing for peace – bur now there is no longer the Soviet Union to save mankind!

The people that came to witness this demonstration all concurred in agreement with us, although there were a few who argued. The question that was asked mostly was “Who is going to resurrect the USSR?” We replied, “We are going to resurrect the USSR together with all of you!”

Labour Struggles in Former USSR

In Taraz, Kazakhstan the workers took over the offices and the plant of Kazneftegazmontazh demanding to get their wages that were owed them for over three months already.

In Samara the workers struck and picketed against the cost of energy that is very detrimental to the whole region. Over 200 workers demonstrated not only about the high cost of electricity, but the fares on transportation and rent. This makes it very difficult for the pensioners. The demonstrators also protested the complete falsification of the results of the last election to the Russian Duma.

In Nizhni Novgorod on the Shishkova St. there took place a demonstration by local residents ad union workers, protesting the absolute terrible tragedy of cutting down of hundreds of trees in order to build a six storied building that Governor Valeri Shancev stated that it will not be built before the last election – and in this way he got elected Governor again.

After the election, this Governor went back on his word and the over 100 trees started to be cut down, thus eliminated the playground park for local children. At\ this protest the police beat up a 10-yer old girl and causing a women pensioner to have a heart attack – thus defending the private builder in this calamity which was against the local laws for the protection of the environment and the playground for the children.

Minsk Will Host the XVII Youth Festival

Representatives of various youth organizations – members of the World Federation of Democratic Youth (successor of the Communist Youth International) will take part in it. This decision was taken at the WFDY meeting in Lisbon, Portugal. The motto of this coming event will be “We are for a world without war.”

The previous WFDY festival was held in Caracas, Venezuela in 2004.

The Word Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) was founded on the 19^th of November 1945 during the World Conference of Youth in London, England.

Russians Want Lukashenko to Be President of Russia

Just before NSC going to press we received the e-mail information that according to a public opinion poll conducted in Russia, people want President Lukashenko of Belarus to become President of Russia and Byelorussia jointly as a stepping stone to the reunification of the USSR!

The Sell Out by Putin of the Kurile Islands to Japan

In an e-mail received from the Committee to Defend The Kurile Islands, signed by Vladimir Lepihov of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union – e-mail: press@kpss.org – here is what was written:

“On February 7^th of this year the Japanese Premier Minister stated officially that he received from Mr. Putin an invitation to confirm that Russia now will give voluntarily all of these Kurile Islands to Japan.”

If it weren’t for this statement by the Premier Minister of Japan, the Soviet people would not have even known that this is being done behind their backs. While mouthing rhetoric against the West, the present regime of Russia is giving away its territory – and the question is this – is this the only Soviet territory that the present capitalist regime is giving away?

The official Kremlin propaganda by Mr. Putin is that “Russia is defending its territory in talks with Japan.” But it is now a known fact that Mr. Putin already in 2001 signed an agreement with Japan that the Soviet agreement signed with Japan in 1960 was not correct towards Japan. In spite of the official line by the Kremlin, that during Putin’s tenure he has defended the integrity and totality of the Russian territory.

Russia is big, but we do not give away our historical territory because we have no use for it!

There were many demonstrations held to defend and protest the actions by Putin regarding these Kurile Islands that belonged to USSR and now to Russia!

Rice Attacks Reprehensible Putin Warnings

“The Soviet Union, President Putin, is gone forever, and I hope that Russia understands that. We are absolutely devoted to the independence of Ukraine and of the other former states that were part of the Soviet Union!”

At the US Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee, she criticized Russia’s position by making this statement to the Senate:

“The unhelpful and, really, I will use a different word, reprehensible rhetoric that is now coming out of Moscow is unacceptable to the United States.”

US is prodding the former USSR Republics such as Kazakhstan Turkmenia, Serbia and Bulgaria that seem to agree for Russia to supply gas and oil to Europe. The new US Energy Coordinator will put heavy political and economic pressure on these former Soviet republics and former friendly countries of the USS, to break off these relations and cooperation.

COMMENT-

It’s a bit late Mr. Putin to try to close the barn doors after the horses were stolen by Uncle Sam. As a matter of fact, you were the one that opened these barn doors wide open!

The Soviet people will sooner than later will close these barn doors and your fate will be decided by the Soviet people.

CPRF Is Showing Its True Face More and More Now

An incident took place that showed the character and policy of the CPRF as far as cooperation is concerned with other Communist parties and movements. Incidents like this one unfortunately are repeated all over Russia – which plays right into the hands of the present bourgeois regime.

We as members of the AUCPB and our young people were distributing leaflets against the policy of Putin and the regime of Ukraine, demanding better living conditions, struggle against Imperialism and supporting the struggles of the Palestinian people as well as the people struggling in Iraq and Afghanistan. The CPRF leadership of this event tore the leaflets from the hands of the young people.

Our people stood their ground and then the CPRF appealed to the police standing by to try and disperse the people from the AUCPB. The police did intervene but our people left this provocation event.

We explained the role of the CPRF as a social-democratic oriented party and that their representatives in the Duma and in other regime’s offices already for 14 year and they do not want to vacate their warm and cushy-paying jobs – but the wagon and their horses are still in the same place.

Besides all this, if you will remember that in 1996 Gennady Zyuganov won the election as President of Russia – this is now a known fact that eve the present regime admits to – but Zyuganov gave this post to Boris Yeltsin – thus he did not need to show his true face as social democrat and not as a Communist!

The population of Russia is getting smaller by 1.5 million per year.
