Who Rules America?
Based on researched article by STEPHEN GOWANS
The
American sociologist William Domhoff has spent years asking this
question. He thinks that
he has the answer. American rulers he states, comprise a very tiny
slice of the US population,
whose members intermarry, go to the same private schools, join
exclusive clubs, travel the world
for business and pleasure and own most of the country’s corporate
wealth. They’re not a cabal
issuing secret orders from behind the scenes, because they are
interconnected group who openly
are aware of their interests and whose aim is to use their ill-gotten
wealth to dominate the US
political process – thus hoodwinking the US public that they’re doing
all this for the betterment of
Americans and that everything they do is legal.
To push the policies on the American people and also influence outside the US borders – these are steps:
* They hire Lobbyists and fund very generously the Think Tanks and many Foundations to influence public policy.
* They employ highly paid and influential Public Relations Firms and use their total control over the major US media (TV, Radio, Newspapers, Internet) to shape the public opinion.
* They provide most financial backing to the USA’s two major political parties – the Republicans and the Democrats.
* The top US government positions, such as: Secretaries of State, Defense, Treasury and Commerce, Top Diplomats, the Top Tier of the Bureaucracy are overwhelmingly staffed by members of this US interconnected ruling class group.
* Any Internal Conflicts such as Organized Labor or Consumer Protests and others are dominated by their political process and in most cases they come out on top and victory.
Mr. Domhoff argues correctly that the two major political parties do not formulate policies, but just serve the purpose of selecting ambitious exhibitionists as candidates ( as is now witnessed by the present US presidential candidates) who can be relied upon, if elected, to implement the set policies of the ruling class experts.
Then there is the CIA and the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) composed of retired Generals, top industry executives of monopolies who now drew up the necessity of US NATO and the European Union to join into a single unified fighting force – to take action anywhere in the world, without the authorization of the UN Security Council.
This is like the former US organized Anti-Comintern Pact, which brought together Germany, Japan, Italy and Spain in a crusade against the Soviet Union – but this new alliance would be more deadly and more controlled by US itself.
Behind this push are top names of the American multinational corporations, Wall St. investment firms, banking gurus, multinationals like the Carlyle Group, Coca-Cola, Glaxo, Time Inc. Exxon Mobil and other corporate powers. Countries that try to be independent economic developing countries need to be brought to heel.
Imperialism can only be stopped by unified actions of all of the progressive forces of the world – minus the revisionists inside the communist parties and movements!
