Polish Miners Strike Lasted 45 Days
From Brzask Newsletter – organ of the Polish Communist Party
The Polish miners’ strike at the Budryk Coal Mine ended after 45 days of heroic struggle, attacks,
blood and solidarity by people around the miners. The capitalist owners used all methods known
to them of exploiting, threatening, physical assaults, firing of the leaders, jailing them and even
calling them “terrorists”. Besides this, the capitalist owners threatened the miners that they will
close all of the mines.
As Communists we are proud of the solidarity of you miners and this example will give courage to
other exploited workers to stand up for their rights – and a strike is one of the most effective
methods.
