The Political Situation in Nepal

Dear Comrades,

Greetings!

Hope all of you are fine and doing well. We are fine too.

I am hereby writing in short some specific points to illustrate the political situation in our country.

The political situation is at a flux and it is heading towards the climax of revolutionary crisis as the fifth expanded meeting had foreseen. In between time from the expanded meeting to now, there have been ups and downs in the political situation and in the final analysis we are having upper hand in the over all political scenario. As a result of their ideological inability and class interest to go ahead of the status quo the parliamentarian parties are loosing ground and they are divided. One section of the parliamentarians, mainly from NC, is tightening its grip with the regressive force, the monarchy, the Hindu Fundamentalists in India and the US imperialism. However, the Indian establishment is still playing a dual role. Contradiction between the Indian establishment and the US imperialism still does not seem eased principally on how to build up an alignment among the different reactionary forces in Nepal and thereby isolate the Maoists.

As the days are approaching the date of constituent assembly election, April 10, the obvious process of class polarisation will be rapid. The triangular contradiction, namely between the representatives of feudal monarch, comprador bourgeois and the revolutionary forces has been transforming steadily into a bipolar contradiction, that is, the contradiction between reactionary and revolutionary pole, republican in our case.

The constituent assembly election in Nepal has been such a political issue which has been accepted among the broad masses as the only peaceful means to restructure the state and resolve the longstanding problems of oppressed class, nation, region and sex. Therefore, all the political forces have been forced to speak in favour of the constituent assembly election. But, the regressive elements, the diehard royalist section, both in the Nepali Congress and the UML, are at the forefront in this conspiracy. Therefore, a reactionary pole comprised of the US imperialism, Indian expansionism, mainly the Hindu Fundamentalists, and their agents including the feudal royalists is internally doing all it can to disrupt the constituent assembly election. The Madhesh problem is an important part of this conspiracy. However, a broad section of the masses, which are in favour of forward-looking political change in Nepal, see their future in the result of the constituent assembly election, the democratic republic.

In the present situation, the reactionary alignment is mainly trying to find ways on how can the Maoists be defeated in the CA election. But a huge section of the masses want its opposite. Hence, the reactionaries seem looking forward to using both the options: holding of CA election or staging a Bangladeshi type of 'democratic' coup and thereby disrupt the election.

Taking into account of both the possibilities, we are looking forward to dealing with the situation both ways. In case they go for the later option, we will call for a mass rebellion to foil the enemy design. The status quo will not continue in Nepal. Hence the days ahead are full of golden opportunities and severe challenges.

Definitely, solidarity with our political offensive from all over the world will be of great importance in this transitional situation. Hope, your party and the masses under your leadership will extend helpful hand to the struggling masses in Nepal mainly by exposing conspiracies on the part of imperialism, Indian expansionism and all sorts of reactions in and abroad.

This is all for now, thanks.
