Important Congress Held by the Communist Party of Ukraine

Felix Gorelik

At the end of June of this year there took place a Congress of the CPU in Kiev at the October Convention Center which was filled to capacity with delegates and guests, besides guests from brother communist parties from many countries. This shows that the Communist Party of Ukraine is alive and is fighting the battles.

The main report was given by the First Secretary Simonenko, who told about the troubles, the crisis in Ukraine and how it affects the work of the Communist Party of Ukraine. The dissolution of the USSR, the privatization, the liquidation of the collective and state farms, brought the economy of Ukraine into a terrible state and this has affected the working class immensely. Because of this, the number of votes given to the CPU during elections is getting smaller and smaller. The working class is affected from one side by despair, and on the other side from foreign high-priced goods. Over 98% of needed goods for the people is manufactured outside the country; the Ukraine light industry is now dismantled. The countryside has no more collective farms and privatization has proved to be the death knell of agriculture.

The trade union leadership is subservient to the present government. Agricultural lands are now in the hands of the private latifundists. In the last 15 years over 13,000,000 people died. The new generation coming into life does not even know what the USSR stood for or what it did for the people. The present Ukrainian media bombardment by the bourgeoisie propaganda machine. But, in spite of all this, the CPU is fighting back now and is on the attack.

Simonenko gave many examples of how the party membership is growing and the success in signing up to the party younger members. The task is to prepare for the coming peoples democratic revolution and, first of all, not allow Ukraine to be a member of NATO.

Peter Simonenko for the first tine has called for the birth of the new Communist International as a need of uppermost importance.

Echoing this sentiment of the need of a Communist International was the speech by Gennady Zyuganov of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation when he spoke as guest at the CPU Congress in Kiev.

Zyuganov gave a detailed report on the former Russian elections and ended his speech with: “There must be a unified entity between Russia, Byelorussia and Ukraine – if this will not happen soon we are headed towards an abyss”, concluded Zyuganov.

The speech by the leader of the Communists in Crimea, comrade Grach, brought the delegates to their feet in applause.” We must be a party of revolutionaries and must not support the present oligarchs! Our party mast be totally Marxist, and always be revolutionary.” Comrade Grach also demanded that there must be established very soon a Communist International. as a bulwark against NATO.

Forced Religious Teaching in Schools

From newspaper MYSL

The present Putin-Medvedev regime is forcing the teaching of religion in all schools, starting September 1, 2009. The leadership of the Russian Orthodox Church is the instigator and the pusher of this. This was in the plans of the Russian regime for a couple of years, but there was opposition and now they managed to pass this into law where each region of Russia decided the policy and thus this became the law of the whole of Russia, even though this is against the present constitution of this capitalist Russia.

This religious teaching law has become a joke amongst the people and here is just one of the jokes the people pass around amongst themselves.

“September 1, 2009. The teacher of physics, looking like an orthodox priest with a long beard and dressed all in a black smock – asks a student:

Tell me, how does electricity travel through the wires?”

“With the help of God, Father!”

“Great! You’ll get an A plus”!

Shake-Up in the Kremlin and Shady Deals

Gathered from Russian news service

President Medvedev had dismissed on June 3, 2008 General Yuri Baluyevsky as Chief of the Russian Armed Forces’ General Staff and replaced him with Deputy Defense Minister Nikolai Makarov.

The question is why?

General Baluyevsky opposed strongly plans to hire private civilian contractors and personnel to sell off military property among other private dealings arranged by the present Russian government.

The “New York Times” reported that the Russian TV political analyst Mikhail Delyagin of the TV Center Television Network criticized Vladimir Putin on a talk show, and before this episode was aired over Moscow TV, his critical remarks about Putin and Medvede’s policies were ordered to be “digitally erased “ from the show before it was aired.

Mikhail Delyagin is on the “Kremlin Black List” and now has been barred from Russian TV news and political discussion program. This “erasing” was admitted by the Kremlin after this news item was published in the “New York Times.”

The Russian Ambassador to Thailand has been accused of making “sweetheart deals” with the Thailand Prime Minister through a private Russian arms dealer Mr. Bout, who was arrested when was negotiating for arms, fighter jets, gas and oil deals – in order for Thailand to release this darling of the Russian mafia, Viktor Bout.

It seems that this Mr. Bout “is very valuable to the Russians” because he is deeply in bed and protected by the Russian privatized military establishment and its intelligence services. This is according to the well-known journalist Douglas Farah who has a Website “Family Security Matters.”

MR. MEDEVEDEV has finally told the truth when he spoke lately to the German political and civic leaders in Berlin”

Russia now is becoming an integral part of Europe. Since we have cast aside the Soviet System and given up forever any idea of its restoration, Russia has now laid the foundations of a state that is completely compatible with the rest of Europe and the West - or to be more precise - with the best of all that makes up the common heritage of the capitalist European civilization.

Russia has now come in from the cold. We have returned here after almost a century of isolation and self-isolation. Russia is now very actively returning to global politics an global economy and availability of our sources and possibilities.”

There’s absolutely no need for any comment.

The Bourgeoisie of Russia Is Scared of Stalin Though He Died in 1953!

By V. TARASOV-EDMURTIA-ABKHAZIA

Newspaper VPERED

Because these present capitalist leaders of Russia are so scared of Stalin’s name, they don’t even want to visit the summer cottage of the CC CPSU where Stalin spent little time, with some other Soviet leaders.

In Abkhazia there are daily tourist excursions to visit the very humble cottage of Joseph V. Stalin. Though the visitors pay minimum admission, they arte very happy and honored even now to see where Stalin spent some time, one of the greatest man of the last century.

The cottage was furnished sparsely, no fancy lamps, furniture or other comforts. Stain lived a humble life here and the meeting room that was used for meetings of the CC Politburo had a long table with wooden chairs around – nothing fancy or expensive. Stalin had no chair reserved for him as the General Secretary of the CPSU; he sat wherever there was an empty chair available.

There were no drinking parties, no liquor cabinets and Stain spent his free time sitting on the hill overlooking the sea and working all the time. From time t time he would walk in the woods – with no security at all. Here after 1945 he met with Mao Tsetung.

After Stalin died (poisoned- Editor) Khrushchev when he came here refused to visit the cottage of Stalin as well as Brezhnev after him, were living in an expensive Hotel Suites nearby. Both Krushchev and Brezhnev refused to even go near the cottage of Stalin – according to the people working nearby.

Tourists who travel here and on boats now can see on the cliff overlooking the sea near Abkhazia and Pitsunda a 9 storied castle built by Gorbachev for himself and his entourage. This caste-like building looks like a Bank on Wall Street.

This castle by Gorbachev is built from the money of the Soviet people. This castle-summer home is used by the present bourgeois leadership of Russia.

Of course, as opposed to the cottage of Stalin, this 8-storey Castle is closed to the people, with 24-hour guards all around.

Medvedev Praises Gazprom A Private Corporation

According to Thomson Financial News, President Medvedev had only kind words for this now multinational corporation, GAZPROM, “that it is now the vanguard of Russian economy and people have to reckon with it.”

But this is only natural, since Mr. Medvedev was Gazprom Chairman for seven years before he was put in by Mr. Putin.

Thousands of Russian Citizens Charged Illegally

Prosecutor-General of Russia, Yuri Chaika charged that thousands of Russians are illegally charged with crimes each year that they did not commit. He told the meeting of Prosecutor General’s Office Collegiums (according to Polit-ru reports). A very large share of responsibility lies with the Prosecutors, who should prevent the violations of the rights of Russian citizens.

Russians Still Think that Putin Is President

An opinion poll by the Russian state owned VtslOM polling agency, here’s what they found out:

Rebuff to Putin by Russian Academy of Sciences

The Russian Academy has voted to reject Mikhail Kovalchuk as a full member of the Russian Academy of Sciences because Kovalchuk, a member of a family that had been nicknamed “Putin’s Purse” was appointed to head Rosnanotech, a sate corporation that receives billions of dollars worth of state funding. But, without a full Academy membership, Kovalchuk cannot be confirmed as Rosnanotech’s official head. This refusal makes Kovalchuk more vulnerable to be dismissal for his money laundering - in case Putin’s grip on power is weakened.

This news item was reported by The Daily Telegraph newspaper, by its resident correspondent.

Trade Relations between Russia and China Are in Trouble

According to the Moscow-based RIA (Russian Information Agency) Novosti had published and editorial expressing great concern about the very rapid decline in Sino-Russian military ties. The Agency reported that now Russian companies are not working on single major contract that was concluded with China.

The Russian-Chinese Bilateral Commission has not met for over two years. China is importing weapons, planes and technology from other countries (USA, Britain, Israel, France etc.) After receiving for many years the technology and expertise from Russia, China does not want any Russian assistance now.

Novosti’s Editorial posed this question: “Is Russia supplying weapons to an army that may turn against it tomorrow?”

Latest From Russia of Medvedev & Putin

Russia has now closed down the final reactor of a Siberian plutonium production plan as part of an agreement signed by Putin with Bush. The reactor is situated in the city of Severk, formerly known as Tomsk.

NSC wonders why U.S. and Israel did not also close down their plutonium reactors?

Corruption in capitalist Russia is not diminishing but growing. The latest is the trial of a joint British-Russian oil corporation called – TNK-BP (British Petroleum). Vasily Piskaryov as the senior official of the Investigation Committee of the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office said that the illegal earnings of the corrupt officials equals about one third of Russia’s Federal Budget.

According to Prosecutor Piskarev, these v businessmen have spent bribing the high Russian government officials by over $33,000,000,000 per year, plus other bribes which added another $3,000,000,000 to lower placed government officials.

According to the Daily Telegraph newspaper

Last June 7th in his first major speech as President of Russia, Mr. Medvedev spoke on economics. After saying that America is to blame for the economic downturn in the world, he offered Russia’s help to these American multinational corporations in order to gain their former control

We wonder whether the outgoing President Bush will award Mr. Medvedev the highest US Medal for his services to the US multinational corporations?
