STATEMENT BY THE ANTIFASCIST COMMITTEE OF UKRAINE

The serious situation prevailing in the Caucasus for many years has been on minds of people all over the world and this situation erupted into a conflict between Russia and Georgia regarding South Ossetia’s people’s demand to join Russia and be as they were when they were part of the Soviet Union. This local conflict, although small in comparison to other world conflicts, saw the complete devastation of the Georgian Army that invaded South Ossetia and thus started this conflict in the Caucasus. All this was happening with the connivance of the USA and some other countries who now want to wash their hands from this conflict in the Caucasus.
The real cause of this conflict lies in the dismemberment of the USSR and in its place the forcible birth of many other small US marionette countries. Georgia in all those years of Socialism lived in peace until Georgian nationalists came to power. The end results are that South Ossetia declared itself independent from Georgia and was recognized as such by the Russian government.
With the attack by the Georgian Army and the loss if thousands of lives, it must be pointed out that this Georgian Army was trained and armed not only by the Americans, but also by Israel. But it showed that even this US-Israel trained Georgian soldiers dud not want to die in order to fulfill the wishes of Sakaashvili or Uncle Sam and its wagging dog – Israel.
It is very important to point out that inside of Georgia there were forces who stood up against this attack, like the Georgian Peace Committee which condemned in no uncertain terms the Saakashvili government for this open carnage against the South Ossetian people. They demanded supreme punishment of the Georgian government and in particular President Saakashvili.
The nationalist elements, which are pro-American like the present leadership of Ukraine, tried to defend the evil deeds of Saakashvili, stating that “he was defending the territory of Georgia.” This only fools idiots in the world, since the South Ossetian people unanimously wanted out of Georgia. Russia recognized the wishes of the people and saved them from complete genocide.
The president of Ukraine supported Sakaashvili, gave them arms and together with the Presidents of Poland and the former Baltic republics supported this attack against South Ossetia by Georgia.
President Yushenko of Ukraine is gung-ho to have Ukraine join NATO and the European Union and that is why it wholly supported this Georgian aggression.
The history of many bloody conflicts on the
territory of former Socialist countries shows that the
ethnic-nationalist and religious conflicts are promoted, financed and
fanned by Imperialism for their own ends. Thousands of people perished
in these conflicts. All this points to the cardinal fact that these
conflicts will cease only after the rebirth of the Union of Soviet
Socialist Republics.
