This political unrest and danger was developing in South Ossetia for a long time and in August of 2008 there took place a direct military confrontation with Georgian forces that were bombarding cities and towns. This then brought in the Russian Army and retaliation with air and naval attacks and shelling.
The Russian regime’s media approved this conflict, stating: “Russia has been compelled to apply military force to save the peaceful population and that Russia has now gained a brilliant military victory and the Russian military is now revived its strength and potential.”
Even the CPRF (Zyuganov) congratulated the Russian leaders that they defended the small nations and resisted pressure by US imperialism and NATO. No matter how chauvinistic fanfares and enthusiastic reports cannot hide the true state of affairs or hide in the shadows the originators of this conflict.
The AUCP of Bolsheviks condemns President Saakashvili of
Georgia, who soiled with blood the Ossetians, Abkhazians, Georgians and
Russian people and transformed Georgia into a semi colony of US
Imperialism. At the same time this tragedy also lies at the feet of the
present Russian rulers. It seems that there was some collusion between
leaders of Russia and Georgia,
Why did the Russian regime allow the Georgian Army to devastate the South Ossetian cities and towns, and accomplish mass slaughter and wait two whole days before sending in the Russian Army to defend the South Ossetian people?
Why did not the Russian regime inform the Georgian people that this conflict would bring in Russian troops? This bravado by Russia that it is defending the small nations and people does not hold water at all, since it allows the Russian population to shrink by over 1,000,000 people yearly, thus placing Russia in the first place in the world in the decline of its population; in the death of children; plus its citizens are forced to slaved abroad in slave labor markets because of the drastic economic situation at home.
This so-called “victory” was planned to put the prestige of Medvedev-Putin regime higher in the eyes of the people. The present bourgeois is very happy since there is now need for reconstruction in South Ossetia. This ”war” helped put Saakashvili as a victim of Russian aggression. The danger is that the Russian Army has now become a pawn to fulfill the wishes of the Russian ruling class and its multi-billionaires.
Today, Lenin’s words are very timely and to the point when he stated: “Hundred thousand slaves of the capitalists are sent to massacre each other for the sake of the interests of several crowned robbers, for the sake of profits for the bourgeoisie. Wars with al its disasters are always generated by capitalism – it aggravates the struggles between nations and transforms slaves to capitalists to use as cannon fodder.”
The AUCP(B) in the name of the vital interests of all workers protests against this crime by the present regimes. We condemn this bloody massacre! We resolutely condemn this sponsored chauvinistic campaign! The AUCP(B) declares that only the overthrow of capitalism can provide free development of Georgia, Russia and other former Soviet Republics.
