In its page on the Internet, the “communist” party reports on a meeting between a delegation of that group, made up of Guillermo Teillier and Juan Andrés Lagos, and Alexey Y. Belonosov on the Russian side. The meeting was held in the diplomatic headquarters of Medvedev’s government of, which the rabid anti-communist Putin manipulates.
According to the “CP”, the representative of Russian imperialism “showed a great interest in the situation of Latin America… he assured that it maintained its glance towards Chile…”. Assuring that “Russia is going to increase its presence on the continent through good will missions … in no way to try to impose any type of hegemony”, “the ambassador showed that it was the beginning of a constructive relation and that he would consider always the “CP”.
The allegorical note of the “C”P assures that “Russia wants to have relations of equality with the whole world.”
The first thing to keep in mind is that in no way can one confuse the former USSR, its heroic, Socialist period, of solidarity and Proletarian Internationalism, of the defeat of Nazi-fascism, the times of Lenin and Stalin, with today’s capitalist and imperialist Russia.
At the moment, the Russia of the imperialist monopolies of Medvedev and Putin is competing feverishly with Yankee imperialism and other imperialist powers for the domination of the world, for the looting of raw materials, for the subjection and exploitation of the workers and peoples; its nature and attitudes are IMPERIALIST. Therefore it is serious and dangerous to present its search for room to displace other imperialists in the looting and exploitation of countries and regions of the world as acts of “good will.”
Of course, we Communists must take advantage of the inter-imperialist disputes to benefit the struggles for national liberation and the social liberation of the workers and peoples, but it is a totally different and opposite thing to create illusions about such-and-such imperialism, and worse to put ourselves under the umbrella of one or another imperialism, no matter how “likeable” they appear. They are always against the peoples!
It is very important to remember that the present Russian regime is one of “savage” Capitalism; it represses the workers and various peoples, it jails Communists and subjects them to tortures, accusing them of being “terrorists”. One cannot ignore the fact that their military interventions, among others in South Ossetia, start from their hegemonic and imperialist interests and not from that of the peoples. They are only trying to take care of “their own” back yard when confronted by the attempts of other imperialists, like U.S. imperialism, to displace it.
Today, Russian society is the realm of the free market, of prostitution of the youth, the super-exploitation of the workers and peoples; it is the paradise of the Mafias and drug dealers; in fact, Putin, the true tsar behind the puppet Medvedev, is considered a complete gangster in the broad sense.
We Communists in Chile of the PC(AP), on every anniversary of the October Revolution commemorated it with activities, publications, etc. We raise permanently, and with no inhibitions, the great achievements of socialism; we remember with pride the fundamental support by the USSR under the leadership of Stalin in the defeat of Nazi-fascism. Therefore, we say that those who today try to whitewash the Russian reactionary regime are not only creating false and dangerous expectations about the nature of Russian imperialism in order to better participate in the exploitation of the natural resources and the peoples of Chile, but also that they are striking blows at the heroic efforts of the real Communists of the countries of the former Soviet Union to reconstruct Socialism.
