Ukraine is one of those post-Soviet countries, in which the question of NATO has become a very thorny question. On the one side are the newly-rich class which has enriched itself on the toil of the masses and the robbery of the natural resources and industries of Ukraine, of course under the umbrella of NATO in order to hide their crimes against the people.

On the other hand the majority of the suffering people are against Ukraine becoming a pawn of NATO, because they fully understand that being under the heel of NATO is opening the country to foreign exploiters of the natural resources as well as the workers, besides the US-NATO promoted antagonism towards the Russian people. This is against the interests of the people of Ukraine and its working class.
President Yushenko on his latest visit to Prague was asked by a journalist about how he feels about his catastrophic popular ratings that are at all time low in Ukraine. He answered (but more correctly that was a lie – VP): "A politician who speaks about Stalin terror, the starvation in Ukraine, who every month visits Brussels and aims for Ukraine to be in NATO, will not gather popular votes!"

The demonstrations that took place all over Ukraine were organized by Communist Party of Ukraine and the Anti-fascist Committee of Ukraine plus other social organizations who are more and more aware of the policies of the present regime. Taking part and speaking at these demonstrations was Viktor Demyanchuk, Deputy of the CPU, plus G. V. Buyko, the President of the Anti-Fascist Committee of Ukraine.

to get rid of President Yushenko and are against Ukraine joining NATO. |
Therefore the protest actions organized by the Communist Party of
Ukraine, the Anti-fascist Committee of Ukraine, Socialist Party of
Ukraine, the Lenin Komsomol, the All-Ukraine Union of Soviet Officers,
the Committee for the Union of Ukraine, Russia and Byelorussia – and
other organizations and movements took place all over Ukraine.
Overlooking the fact that April 2, 2009 was a working day, this was the 60th Anniversary of NATO, and these actions took place all over Ukraine, where NATO has its representatives.
The demonstrators held in their hands flags of the CPU, SPU, anti-NATO slogans: "Down with NATO! "Ukraine – without NATO!" "Ukrainian soldiers will not serve the interests of NATO!" "I'm a Mother, Father – we are all against NATO!"
In front of foreign guests there were held meetings at which peoples deputies spoke from many organizations and movements of Ukraine (too numerous to mention in this space – Editor)
At the end of these meetings the Chairman of the Anti-fascist Committee of Ukraine – Georgie Buyko spoke, in which he pointed out that these actions by the people show their opposition to the President of Ukraine who is pushing for joining NATO against the wishes of the overwhelming majority of the Ukrainian people. He urged all these lovers of NATO in the government to join the Foreign Legion and go to Africa to defend French and US expansion imperialism... and not agitate and force young Ukrainians to do their dirty work.
On behalf of the protestors a statement was adopted unanimously to be sent to the head of Ukraine, NATO, France, Germany that the majority of the people of Ukraine are against Ukraine joining NATO.
In the address to the General Secretary of NATO, it stated that by the majority vote of the Ukrainian people, NATO should not accept its membership.
NATO is the cause of the cold war and bloodshed since the end of WW II – with wars, with bombing of Yugoslavia, Iraq, Afghanistan and other danger spots, including the Middle East conflict. NATO has become the world's gendarme, forcing its will on weaker nations. This is American imperialism in action in order to bring about its dream of the New World Order!
* We demand that the attempt by President Yushenko is against the will of the absolute majority of the people of Ukraine.
* We demand that NATO not support any of these overtures.
* We demand as soon as possible that this NATO aggressive bloc be dissolved.
The same demands are being sent to President Obama, to German Angejle Merkel and to Nikola Sarkosy France.
An appeal to all people of Ukraine that all should demand neutrality for Ukraine now.
The above text and appeals were sent to all representatives of NATO in
Ukraine, to all Deputies of Ukrainian parliament and to all
organizations that took part in this action.
