Dear Galina:

I am writing this letter with the idea that through it to all of our friends, before I get transferred to the Federal Detention Center of Miami. I am certain that you might already know the fact that the US Judge Lenard has set October 13th as the day for the re-sentencing of Fernando, Ramon and myself.

Yes, she is the same Judge that imposed on us the incorrect sentence and now she has to correct her error, but I am not sure that we shall get a shorter sentence. We all know that nothing will improve our 11 years already of hard incarceration.

Our communications might be affected by this Miami transfer, but whatever happens, we know that we will not lose our contacts with friends all over the world.

Our lawyers will continue the struggle against the charge of cruelty imposed on Gerardo.

I want to share with all some poems, which I wrote, and the love that has accompanied us all through this time. Our determination is stronger with each and every gesture of solidarity that we receive.

VENCEREMOS

I cultivate a white rose
In my teeming heart
Avowing faithful alliance
With the humble of the world.

The path of the oppressed
I feel in the dawn
When my warrior verse
Is a dove and is a sword.

He who resolves to fight
For justice in any place
Always is caressed by love,
Encircled by bank of light.

When I raise my sights
Above the stirring air
I see a star uplifted
By my steadfast people.

And I judge, when I am happy
As a young student
That when the sky is darkest
The dawn is near.

My good heart
Has absolute certainty
Happiness and fortitude
Hold fast to reason.
