Security walls across Korea

Warm greetings from the Korean Committee for Solidarity with the People of the World! The Security walls by Zionist Israel have already been branded as illegal by the International Court of Justice and by the Resolution of the General Assembly of the United Nations.

These Walls cannot stand comparison to the walls built by South Korea across Korea under the guidance of US Imperialism. They run along the southern edge of the Military Demarcation Line, which cuts actress the Korean Peninsula for 240 kilometers. They measure from 5 to 8 meters high, 10 to 19 meter wide at the bottom and 3-7 meters at the top.

More than 800,000 tons of cement, 200,000 of structural steel and upwards of 3.5 million cubic meters of mixtures was used to build these walls. Eight Korea counties and 122 villages have been divided, three railways also, three roads and over 220 minor roads have been cut off by these walls. The South Korean authorities broadcast to the world that these walls were built as "barrier against North Korean Tanks."

When these walls were being built, the South Korean President said the following: " We cannot live with these communists in the North. They do not belong to our nation. I do not care whether the nation is split into two or three!"

We held high-level talks during the 1970's in an effort for unification. The South Korean regime was afraid of the enthusiasm by the people for unification, but the South Korean authorities under the guidance of the USA stuck to the policy of "two Koreas."

The talks in year 2000 were the first steps towards cooperation and unification.

The Korean Committee for Solidarity with the People of the World is firmly convinced that progressive mankind and

organizations who aspire for peace and security in the Korean Peninsula and in the whole world, will require the dissolution of these concrete walls and express their support and solidarity with Korean people in their struggle for peace and reunification of Korea!

The South Korean authorities talk about "cooperation" and "unification" by words, they keep silent about the demolition of these concrete walls, or even about their existence.

COMMENT: We sent our protest to the United Nations and asked that a resolution be adopted on this question and sent to the South Korean Authorities and a copy to the US in Washington. The question begs to be asked as to why China and Russia, both members of the UN Security Council, are keeping mum all these years on this question?
