The Way To Socialism

By Ivo Hrstka – Germany

As I see it, one of the reasons for the defeat of Socialism was that the Communist Parties were not successful in convincing the technical middle class and the intellectuals about the advantages of Socialism. Some of them did not want to design and produce better products as did the West – in order in this way to destroy socialism from within. Lenin always said "only with higher productivity and quality we can be successful. If we want to win the technical middle class, we must say that we are fighting for economic democracy and not the dictatorship of the proletariat." It sounds better and is much more difficult to discredit a party fighting for political and economic democracy. We should not give the capitalist class ammunition to fight us.

We must show better to the masses the true face of exploitative capitalism. Without economic democracy, political democracy is impossible. Workers must have a feeling of ownership of production.

Joseph Stalin, about two days before Beria organized his death, called D. Tshesnokov and told him: "You have to push forward the economic theory, because without a right theory, it could be our death" He wanted the Soviet economic growth to go move even faster forward.

If there are no longer bankers, property owners, state officials, opportunists etc. – unless they fully support Socialism they will always betray the system. This is what happened in former socialist countries.

Condensed for space reasons only. Comments are appreciated since it seems a departure from Marxism-Leninism.
