An Association of Spanish-Soviet Friendship Formed

This great news was received by the International Council for Friendship and Solidarity with Soviet People and below we publish their Statement in full.

"On November 14, 2009 in the city of Madrid in the House of Peace, there took place the first meeting of people dedicated to friendship and solidarity with Soviet People. The attendance was not as large as we would have liked it to be, due to the political situation here and in the world in general, plus the lack of a united front in the Communist movements.

The meeting was opened by a brief history of the friendship between the Spanish and Soviet people and the very active Homes of Spanish-Soviet Friendship that existed in Barcelona and Madrid, which ceased their activities after the counterrevolution took place in the USSR. After that there followed a report of why an Association of Friendship with Byelorussia was formed and its work, plus the celebration of the May 9 Day of Victory over fascism in 2008 and in 2009, with the presence of First Secretary of the CPSU, Sergei Skvortsov (not the same CPSU of the late Oleg Shenin).

Looking at the great work that was done by the Association of Friendship with Byelorussia, but at this moment in history, it is imperative that we broaden our friendship work with the peoples of the former Soviet Union, not only morally, but in defense of the many political prisoners there who struggled for Socialism against the present regimes. We want to keep in contact with most of the communist and workers parties that are struggling there for unity and the resurrection of the USSR and Socialism. We keep in contact with all organizations that want to resurrect the USSR and are struggling against the present capitalist-Mafiosi regimes.

It was also agreed upon by this meeting on the following proposals:

* To become affiliated and part of the International* Council for Friendship and Solidarity with Soviet People which is located in Toronto, Canada. There was also a proposal that was adopted to get subscribers to Northstar Compass – English and Spanish Editions.

* To struggle against Imperialism, NATO and fascism – in all its forms - Nazism and Zionism.

* To support the Soviet people in their struggle to resurrect the USSR and Socialism as taught by Marx, Engels, Lenin and Stalin. Under Stalin's leadership the world was saved from the scourge of fascism – when the USSR was alone, led by Communists in the life and death struggle against the fascist hordes.

* To struggle for peace and friendship with the peoples the world.

There were other decisions made regarding our future work and the election of an Executive as well as getting our Friendship Association registered.

Our Hymn shall be the International!
